I use far infrared heat therapy but I've no idea whether the red light has any benefit or it is just the heat (I know heat helps me)

Infrared is what you’d be needing, not red light. IR light can penetrate down to muscle, so great for deep tissue repair. Red light will only go skin deep, so it’s used for aesthetics/beauty to help condition skin.

I have an IR light machine and I definitely like it, but can struggle to use is, as it’s mobile and can’t get the right position.

I do feel relief in my muscles when I use it though and I do try to use it when I’ve had an injury.

If I could afford it, I’d get a larger one I could suspend from the ceiling or could lay in like a tanning bed.

I researched them heavily before I bought mine, and couldn’t find any negative reports, so maybe it’s worth a try, you can pick one up pretty reasonably.

Red light therapy is sometimes helpful but not as helpful as Far infrared therapy. Red light therapy has a mild effect as it doesn’t penetrate far enough to reach muscle tissues. It’s mostly tense muscle tissues that cause the pain so anything that can penetrate far enough to give a warming effect will help relax the muscles. A Far infrared lamp is ok for local areas that are particularly sore but the best treatment comes from a Tent that covers most of the body, I have used one and found it helps to relax the muscles but it’s only short term so needs to be used often.

Hi, I have been using photonic red light therapy for over 25 yrs on horses. The red light omits 660 nm of red light. This is plenty to go into the muscle tissue of horses so it's more than enough for humans. If you place the light directly over the accupoints this stimulates the nerves and helps increase blood flow. Getting back to what you require is go and get a bulb or strip light bulb omitting 660 nm switch it on and just bathe in it's glow. It does not generate heat and is safe to look at.
