Just wondering if anyone here has tried Mickel therapy?
It was devised by a Dr Mickel in Elgin Scotland and is said to have amazing results. It is talking therapy, but not CBT, it can be done via Skype or Xoom or email or in person
I bought his book, The Long awaited cure by Dr David Mickel

I looked at some of his stuff on the internet. I have to say its not for me. My reasons for this are because none of it is evidence based or measurable. I thought his methods and terminology a bit bizarre. In fact some terminology made up even. When someone is making up their own terminology to fit with a new therapy, it makes me think, is someone trying to hoodwink the public. xx
Sorry not for me. IMO it sounds like another person jumping on the Fibro band wagon just to make money. But it may appeal to others. I am never against anything if others find it works for them xx
the only thing I would add to this is that I heard about it over 10 years ago at least so they did try and jump on a while ago........ I think it is based on NLP if memory serves.
I don't know about it myself but just a thought on the terminology comments... all terminology is made up at some point and if doing something new then some new terms are likely to be required. I wouldn't use that as evidence that something is no good. That's not to say it is good either... just a thought
Hi - I tried it years ago, I'd advise you not to waste your money. It's not really
NLP based, it's along the lines of changing whatever activity you're doing regularly, ie every 45 minutes, to stop the body becoming tired..... As a naive youngster I really believed it would work, I really tried and wanted to believe and had many sessions to no avail. I do think positive thinking is of huge benefit in lowering inflammation for example, but personally I wouldn't recommend Nickel therapy (unless you have a lot of money that you want rid of for no obvious benefit, lol)
Thank you to everyone who has replied to me about Mickel Therapy. I have read more into it and taken on all your views. I will not proceed with this therapy but have taken on board all your tips re pacing, saying no instead of doing all myself and being kind to myself. Thank you all x
I remember speaking to a mickel therapist at a holistic fair several years ago..... And coming away knowing no more what it was about than when we started the conversation. That rang alarm bells for me.... If a therapist cannot tell you what a therapy involves before you part with money and sign up for a session... There's something to be wary of. (I was offered a session at the reduced price of £80 (normal price £120) just to discuss what the therapy involved and how it would help me)
It was awful tbh, I got pushed from therapist to therapist, I seen about five different ones, I felt like they were talking down to me, mind games etc, it was awful
I asked could I speak to dr Mickel and I wasn’t allowed, it was the worst experience of my life, really damaged my mental health but I had no way of asking for help, I’d avoid it or be very careful with the therapist
I have never heard of it, but im always open to try alternatives treatment/therapy, providing it is reasonable and doesn't break the bank. What's the harm In trying. Xx
