I need a bath to soak in a shower doesn't do anything except make me cold which makes my pain worse. I'm in a council bungalow with wet room and claim pip. Who do I contact about this if anyone can possibly help me? Thanks for reading.

Is there anywhere in your area that has a heated swimming pool? Some Leisure centres have one. I know it means a struggle to go out but it can be worth it. You dont need to swim, just float for a while in the shallow end. Its worth checking online.

Hi you would need to be referred to an occupational therapist at your local council. They can request the works are completed by your Landlord with a disabled facility grant. It’s worth a try but in my experience they are likely to say that a wet room mets your bathing needs, good luck 🤗

you may be able to get it changed through a occupational therapist, if it’s a council property, you will need a very good excuse for them to change it, so I am told by my council it costs a lot of money to change it back, as the floor needs levelling again, and plumbing change.

Good luck 🤞

Can we swap???? 😀

You have had this wonderful home, all on one floor and wet room?????😀

I would be over the moon and being a council property I would presume the housing benefit fully cover your rent??

I live in a 2 bed terrace with very steep stairs (we had to pay for our own stair lift)

We are waiting for a date for our wet room to be fitted and still waiting for an outcome about widening the front door so I can get my power chair in without smashing the door up,

I hope you get the result that's best for you, I'm thinking of getting a large shed with a hot tub outside my back door,(very private) 😊😊

Take care

Debs

Can I ask my home has one too and it's over 20 years old but I now need to renew the carpet on the stairs but the cost of lifting the stairlift to replace carpet is sky high does anyone know who will pay for stairlift to be moved to get the new carpet on stairs.im a pensioner now and haven't a clue who can help me tyia xx

hi Pinot,

You must have looked after your stair lift well,

I just brought new batteries from E-bay and a man to change them

All together £180 (not pleased but needs must) It's coming up to 5 years the carpet has been down so asked him about replacing carpet,

It's obviously easier with carpet already down, but his Mum had the same issue,So he removed the carpet apart from the piece where screwed into stair then had the carpet fitted up to the old one,

These carpet fitters do a wonderful job,

Just had a thought, Ow, I'm wondering if they can like lino and cut the carpet with each step with the metal work on ?? It might work

I hope you get your carpet down without too much trouble,

Take care Debs

Ty debs the stairlifts are great I live in an old villa house so stairs are steep and 20 of them so really need the stairlift and will try asking carpet fitter for an estimate.. I did think about leaving stairlif in place an covering stairs with runner but that's also very expensive as you have to buy carpet then pay for it and have the runner bound.. but ty for your help xx

What a difference they make,

Last month our's needed new batteries, So I opted to sleep downstairs until we got it sorted,

We rent an old terrace up north, Very steep too, When we applied for a stair lift the OH said they don't put them to stairs that steep.

When our neighbours had theirs fitted we had a 5% saving off, Something better than nothing,

Enjoy your dayx

Hi

We just had our bath removed and a wet room installed. I bought a waterfall shower, refusing the rubbish electric one they wanted to put in. Best thing I ever bought! Heat on your muscles is so good, could be an option for you maybe?

Hi, thanks for reply I've already had the waterfall one installed it was nice at first but now im used to it. It's just not the same as sitting in water and my wetroom is cold too. I'm actually looking at installing a small bath, found one with door that will fit in the space where the shower is so think I'm just going to sort it myself. Probably best way lol 😊

Hi I saved up and bought a jacuzzi and it's not a cheap whirlpool omg it's amazing for the pain lying in the water and the powerful jets shooting all over your body is amazing and so comforting I've had this bath for about 15 years now and couldn't do without it ps it has a shower mixer tap so I can shower as well I bought it in the sales best purchase I've ever made by farI know not everyone can afford it but we'll worth saving for..

This is so useful thank you for mentioning what you have done I didn’t know that they did these type of showers - so now looking into it maybe if some much needed help for myself.

Only problem is you may stay in far too long, I certainly do. First time I had it so hot I nearly passed out 😳, but so good on head and neck pain x

You should contact your local adult social services and they can come around and help you get a therapist recommendation and navigate your local council with you. If it is a health need putting in a bath should be possible but be warned it will take a bit if time as all the councils squirm around spending money as they don't have any. If you get no help you can contact your local MP . Good luck.

Understand by own experience that baths and swimming really help . Enquire about a mutual exchange if you have council property . Your property no doubt perfect for someone and council housing team will advise you
