I have just realised I don't seem to have control of my legs. I have been walking around the house for awhile now and all of a sudden I just stop. Then have to tell myself to get moving again. Is this a fybro problem or something else.

Stop walking
Hi there, first the word is fibro no Y second going on my own issues it sounds like lower back problems and needs to be checked out by your GP.

I have lower back problems as I have osteoarthritis in the right knee and am waiting for a new knee. Sorry about the spelling mistake that's how my phone printed it
Hi ,it is possible it could be due to you back and knee issues. But if this is something new to you. Then I do strongly suggest a word with someone at your surgery.
Was not been rude about the spelling. But we who suffer have so many problems getting people to even believe fibro exists. I just feel how much harder it can be if those who suffer from fibro don't know how to spell the illness they suffer from. This is just my own personal opinion.
It came across rude !!
Really ? please ignore it then and move on would be my advice. we all see thing differently. I was not intending to be rude but more informative . We do not have fybro or fybo or any other names that get used. We have fibromyalgia or shortened to Fibro and I was trying to explain if we who suffer can't spell it right what chance do others have. That was my own personal opinion. And we are entitled to those I believe. I shall not be replying further so will leave it their.
Best wishes

"I just feel how much harder it can be if those who suffer from fibro don't know how to spell the illness they suffer from. "
That's quite interesting actually because I find the reduction of fibromyalgia similarly irritating because it would appear that we are hijacking the term from other "fibro" prefix sufferers.
Perhaps we should be mindful of Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva sufferers before medically appropriating their prefix....
After all, who on here would swap conditions with them?
...and don't get me started on "fibrowarrior"....Pass the bucket!
I agree and will take that on board. I will definitely give our horrible illness Fibromyalgia it's full name in future posts or maybe FM would be the best alternative if needs be
I have similar negativity to fibrowarrior but not as far as needing a bucket. As someone who types the name of the condition more than most I do shorten it. And, I have put a post on the group previously about getting the name right.
Here is my logic.
Official document: always use Fibromyalgia or fibromyalgia. Flexible as to whether it is capitalised or not. May refer to fibro when talking about fibrofog or mentioning it is called fibro within the community.
Community: fibromyalgia normally at least once but fibro okay to be used as the context is drawn from the community setting
Helpline: Will normally use fibro but fibromyalgia depending on need. Again context allows it to be shortened.
Other Terms: Fybro, fybromyalgia, FM, or FMA are not good options and should not be used. Using the wrong term may have it being used by someone in the wrong setting and inferring the wrong meaning. Fybro is a brand name for other things as well as looking like Fybo.
FM is radio and FMA is the UK charity and short for FMA UK. So again not ideal for describing the condition.
I think context allows the shortened version to be used on here and when anyone wants to talk about conditions like Fibrodysplasia on here then they should adjust their usage again due to the context.
Yes the "bucket" was an exaggeration for (attempted) comic effect. It normally invokes a "tut" and a slightly skyward glance.
As for "fibro" I think it is okay for somewhere like this where we're all in the same boat but elsewhere it is a common prefix for many other things, both medical and beyond.
"Fybro" and the various other obvious mistakes I don't mind because we are not all brilliant spellers and, for some, may not even be using their first language.
"There, their, they're" and misplaced apostrophes though....
I tend to comment on the misspellings rarely but do find it is not typos but misinformed usage as they tend to be consistently used.
Back to the bucket the usage of "fight" or "fighter" is often a challenging subject with illness. Seems to be less popular in cancer now as people who lose the battle can be thought to have not "fought hard enough" which is insane. But I could not use fibrowarrior personally as it would feel like I am blowing smoke.....
Hi there,
Functional Neurological Disorder( FND) can cause problems with movement. Where you want to move but can’t quite coordinate to do it effectively. There are lots of other symptoms too. Look it up maybe,
Michelle
Fibromyalgia is mostly a condition that is finally diagnosed when other more serious ones are excluded.
That said, new symptoms should always warrant a doctor’s appointment.
If you are in the UK and as it’s the weekend I would call 111 for advice. If they believe it needs investigating they’ll tell you what course of action to take.
I would definitely not try and self-diagnose.
I hope that helps?
Hi there, I think your reply was meant for the OP not me this is not my post xx
WHAT WAS THE QUESTION?????
