Fibromyalgia Difficulty Breathing

I've been having trouble breathing for years now, more than a decade. I just went for a swim today. I'm trying to manage my weight. I'm 46 now. I guess there are a lot of body changes. Sometimes I don't understand why other older people are thin, but I guess it's a personal thing. I was having trouble breathing and feeling motion sickness in the pool. I did feel some pain go away after an hour at least. When I got out my body was so heavy I nearly buckled. I recently lost 30 pounds. Actually, it's taken me a couple years. I think I've lost more. My pug passed away 5 years ago and I gained a bunch of weight. I kinda gave up on myself. I loved my pug so much.

I don't know if others have this experience.

I also take lamictal and Seroquel, propranolol and hydroxyzine. Sometimes I wonder if the lamictal is causing this. I know it affects the thyroid. Maybe that's why I can't breathe well.

Best to speak to your gp

Our primary care sucks so much here, but I'll definitely try again. Ty! 👍

Hi TjoceansYes see your GP.

I think grief can really throw us off track.

Your Pug was an Important family member.

Best to get the breathing sorted. GP can check. If it is worst after swimming maybe chlorine doesn't help. Do you have outdoor swimming groups near you.

Well done you for loosing weight.

I am struggling with my weight too.

Take care

Gigi

What a nice reply! I just really wonder if the muscles start to atrophy, even if we are exercising everyday. My sister has MS. I guess you go numb. Fibromyalgia is like you feel everything.

Hi there, differently agree try see your doctor, wel done for the weight loss, but perhaps having a good health check will put your mind at ease. Also ask if your meds affect weight at all(appreciate your health system is not always helpful🙁do you pay each time you see a doctor ? )Sorry too read about your little pug , we know how it feels ☹️very sad, would you consider another little dog ?take care of yourself xx

That dog passing nearly broke me. I was talking out loud to him everyday. I'm sure people looked at.me strangely.

I was thinking meds, too. That's a psych question. Ya, in the US we get Medicaid, but at 65 we have to go on Medicare. Then we are charged a copay and a percentage of insurance. I have said it before, but I really think our govt wants to get the money from the elderly before they pass. Crooks.

None of us here are doctors, although I was a nurse. You need to see your doctor, urgently.

None of us have the expertise to diagnose this.

Cheers, Midori

It means a lot just for some kind of response and acknowledgement.

Hi Tjoceans, I've put on a stone in weight after losing my beloved little dog, Sandy, in February. I still can't believe she's gone and I feel so sad for a lot of the time xx

Yes, everyday I think of him. Sucks that I don't feel like I can talk about with everyone, but I don't want to depress everyone. It's a secret thing. He used to tell me when to go to bed. Bark at me and lead me to bed. I would have to tell people I need to go to bed, because he's gonna wake me at 8am. Now I don't have him telling me to stay on a schedule. 🤷😊

Check your thyroid blood test results as air hunger can be a symptom of hypothyroidism. Karen

Don't trust doctors saying that your results are normal. Get your actual numbers with reference ranges. Karen
