Itchy spots driving me mad! Could it be Fibromyalgia related?

Hi all, hope you are having the best day. My problem is that I've suddenly started getting itchy spots that come up like bites and itch like the blazes, that don't go away for ages. My doc has just put them down to my Psoriosis, but I know it isn't that. I also get spots on my face, round my eyes, they start off feeling like boils coming up, sore and bruised, then turn into spots with clear liquid in. They won't go away for months and don't look nice at all. The Doc says it's Rosecea but I'm sure it's not as they sometimes appear on my shoulders and the back of my neck too. Could this be linked to my fibro? Does anyone else get these? I'm already taking antihistamines, but they're not helping, so don't think it's an allergy. Any advice on what they may be or how to get rid and stop the itching would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi

What you are describing sounds exactly like rosacea - my son experienced exactly the same. We had to smother him in calamine lotion however the large blisters did leave him with unsightly scars . He was also put on a medication (which my fibro fog can’t remember the name but I’m pretty sure it was a long term antibiotic).

If you are convinced it isn’t rosacea then maybe seek a second opinion from either another GP or a walk in centre.

Regards

Thanks, I am now getting them all over my torso, which is why I don't think it's Rosecea. It's so difficult when it takes at least 6 months to get in to see the doc that second opinions are virtually impossible to obtain. 😓

Yes my son had them all over his torso too x. Please keep trying to talk to a doctor x

Hi, I’ve had something very similar - like teenage spots but blind, never coming to a head. I mostly get them around my yoke - upper chest and shoulders but also neck, face and scalp. The ones on my scalp are VERY itchy and appear to be liquid filled rather than any infection.

As we know it is hard to see a Dr. and the nurses at the practice said it was Suborric dermatitis and gave me a shampoo to use which I was not convinced by as I get the odd one or two on my bum!

Good luck.

oh, as a PS if it is a reaction to all the chemicals we all take maybe an anti allergy medication may help.

Thanks for your reply, I should have said that I'm already taking antihistamine tablets, but they don't seem to help, even after doubling the dose, so I don't think it's an allergy. It's only been like it for the past year or so, can't figure it out at all, but it's driving me crazy. Hope you manage to get yours sorted soon. 😊

At one time I went for a walk on a beach in Anglesey and sunk in black sticky mud. I came up in watery itchy blisters all over my shins and they gave me a cream for chemical burns..

Good luck.

They sound just like mine. Do you have Fibromyalgia? I was wondering if they were related to that? 🤔

Hi Jenonnet, I had itchy red spots on my scalp too, quite painful when I combed my hair. The GP prescribed Fucibet cream, but it was quite difficult to apply as I had to find the spot through my hair, then apply. She eventually prescribed a three month course of antibiotics which cleared the problem for a time though I am getting one or two spots again. She said it was due to skin infection so not sure if it's fibro related. I didn't have the spots anywhere else, so not sure if it's the same problem as yours.Hope you find a solution soon.

Thanks for the reply LoveMyveg, I've already had numerous courses of antibiotics that didn't help at all, so no hope there. Hope you get yours sorted for good soon.

Hi Jenonnet,

I never suffered with spots of any sort when I was young, Sat here at 3am is not exactly helping, Menopause means hormones, which means 💩y skin has not been looked after whilst going through Chronic depression and anxiety and just not looking after myself,

The spots on my face seem to come in clusters of 3 and I have the disgusting bad habit and a counting part of my OCD I cant leave them alone, So they are going to scar as with the one's all over my arms,my butt one's itch like crazy so I scratch them without feeling ashamed that I'm doing it,🥺🥺🥺 Not sure If it has anything to do with my Fibro or not,

The curse of Fibro is the gift that just keeps giving,I have another just came up under my nose,

Darn it curse! Why?

Hope you have better luck with finding out how to ease them for you

Take care

Debs

Ah, I had 3 months of exactly that, felt like I had repeatedly walked naked through a swarm of mosquitoes. I was lucky - none on face. Of course I scratched and ended up with scabby sores. Folk on here suggested E45 anti itch cream, cannot say it really worked but it did stop the itching a bit but not the continuous eruption of more spots.

My quack suggested it was a reaction to my shower gel but I have used the same one for over 10 years so not that. I still have no definite diagnosis but, for the moment, I am relatively clear of this but still get the occasional itchy spot

Good luck with finding a solution / cure, I gave up with quacks

Ann xx
