lupus or fibromyalgia

hi has anyone else in a similarly position my GP can’t tell whether I have fibromyalgia or lupus or a combination of the two

I would ask for a referral to a rheumatologist for a definite diagnosis one way or the other. Lupus is normally diagnosed after a positive ANA antibody test. Lupus sufferers usually have a butterfly rash over the nose and cheeks. I had a positive ANA test and a family history of Lupus and MS but was still diagnosed with fibro. Lupus can also affect the heart, lungs and kidneys so it is important to get the right diagnosis.

Hi pricey110 as far as I'm led to believe it's the rheumatologist that diagnoses Fibro but even then you have get one that knows about fibro and the pressure points. Yeah so as far as gp goes ask for a Referral to rheumatology, best of luck and stand your ground on this.

iv been clearly diagnosed with fibromyalgia with osteoarthritis 2013.

Recently I have visited gp’s on several occasions with different types of symptoms n my ESR+others symptoms was very high n treated me for it immediately with sterid tablets. a&e-Rheumatology did a blood test of smith-antibody (autoimmune) that was positive n now im going to see Rheumatologist to find out is it lupus or something else going on …

Get a Rheumatologist to confirm what you have fibromyalgia or lupus

I have read this before on the forum, like Dinkie says get a referral for rheumatologist for some much needed answers. Your doctor does the referral so hopefully if you ring the surgery they can jump on this for you as some area s there is a wait too see someone. Let us know how you get along ,in the meantime take care .
