Dwp just called me regarding my mandatory reconsideration. At no point did they say it was to negotiate my claim, or tell me how much I would receive. But now I'm concerned that I just agreed to a basic award. They just asked me to confirm my details and said they'd send a letter confirming the award, the amount and the full details of points. Should I be concerned this happened?

Hi there, you have told us what they didn't say. But not what they did say. Did they read your bank details out to you for confirmation or just ask you to repeat them?
I think the best think to do is get onto them first thing in the morning and ask for some kind of clarification.
I have read on here that people have had calls before a MR but I would have thought you would have been supplied with more information.
If your MR is for an higher benefit award you would need to know if they are giving you this. If not then they need to ask if you wish to proceed with the MR.
Sorry I am guessing all this. I have never been through this process myself. But it is what I would expect if it was me. Call them.

Hi there. They asked for my bank details to confirm and said I would be getting an award but not how much. I asked if they'd send a full letter, including what points I'd be given, which they said they would. I was a little concerned it was a scam, but they called from a known number and texted me on a recognised number beforehand that they were going to call. I think I'm just panicking as you hear some horror stories about fake dwp and low claim negotiations - but from your description it sounds like I had a very legitimate call with the correct info. I will contact them soon if I don't hear anything.
Hi there, I am sorry if you got the impression I thought yourcall had been legitimate. I do hope that's the case.
What my concern would have been and still is. That someone phoned out of the blue asking for bank details. Or even to confirm them.
If I had been in your place I would not have offered up my bank details. Just to put my mind at ease I would be calling the DWP. But that's just me. I am very security conscious even with people and companies I know.

Hi I have done a MR they sent me a letter with the decision. They just added 3 points that i was missing on my last review. I am missing 1 point for the higher rate.I would call them to find out i know they say don't call them but they have been good every time i have called them .
Hope everything works out .
If it was DWP asking you for bank details over the phone is extremely irresponsible. They should stop that practice if it is them.
I have never had the DWP / PIP people call me to discuss my health matters unless it was a prior appointment and then a letter in the mail to confirm the appointment. Never been asked for my bank details over the phone. I always err on the side of caution so please check that this was the DWP phoning you x
Hi SV.
When my award was under consideration for renewal I recieved text messages from the DWP & in August 2023 I recieved a letter informing me of what my award is & my points & when it will end too.
However since last August I've recieved another letter telling me the rates were going up & it will start in April which traditionally is the new tax year in the UK ( explination is for those not in the UK ).
I've always thought that the DWP would tell U what bank they pay the money into as I think its scary if they ask U to confirm ur bank details.
As someone else has suggested give them a call to double check that they did call U but the wait could be a long one for someone to answer ur question.
Lastly
I wish U love & light on ur journey.
Hi there, like I said earlier please ring DWP to check. Maybe also check your bank account.
From what I understand and thought . Asking for bank details is not the norm.
You may be asked for the name of your bank to check your identity, but you'll never be asked for your bank account number or sort code.
Hey all. Rang dwp and they confirmed I have upcoming payments scheduled. No weird bank issues. Seems a bit odd, but all good here.
Good to hear. But in this day and age it's always best to check and make sure. Thanks for getting back and updating everyone it's appreciated 👍
They did this to a family member of mine. They said she would get basic and asked of that was OK. Her husband said, I don't know, I'll have to ask my wife. The caller then said ok, I'll give her the higher rate. Mental!
It was definitely weird, they didn't say anything like is Basic OK? They said "you'll be getting living rate" but nothing about how much. Just a very bizarre call to be honest. Was from legitimate numbers etc and I have an award in place, but just don't know what points I got now. Maybe they are getting sneakier about how they negotiate lower awards? Who knows 🤷♂️ they said I'd get a full breakdown letter.
