heat pads

hi everyone

Newbie here.

I’ve got fibromyalgia… it runs in my family

I just wanted to ask about the rules of heating pads in the work place. My daughter is in a lot of pain and has been told she cannot use a heat-pad at work, because of health and safety. What can she do to help herself. She’s in pain. We all know how bad that gets

I don’t want my daughter suffering like me.

Thank you x

That’s strange, is it food related?

She could try a tens machine, but she can’t use it all day, look on the internet and get the pros and cons of the length of time she can use it, I use one, but you have to separate the times in between. Sorry couldn’t be more helpful.

Is it an electric one? if so then it would need to be PAT tested to comply with health and safety regulations. If a microwaveable one then they may be concerned about fire risk in the microwave. If she has had a occupational health assessment and reasonable adjustments put in place the heat pad could be included within the adjustments.

Thank you x

Pain relief heat patch. ' Cura heat' is one brand but I'm sure there are generic ones. They stick to your clothing eg camisole/vest and heat up once exposed to air and last up to 24 hours.
