Wow your accupuncturist sounds like one in a kind, ChristineEls
and I really hope his dream plan with the NHS comes together its the first thing I've read about that has actually made me want to have it done as well as being affortable,
I've never understood that considering we have FM and I dont know about yourself, but I'm unable to work let alone look after my family as well as needed, so money is extremely tight,
Tofty I do hope you feel better soon and I would love to say it does get better eventually but I find its only the Dr's that have ever told me this!!!! I do find myself that I'm up and down, but even on the up days they always end with a lot of pain! but just take it hour by hour and try and find things that you can do even when bad, if thats possible.
I've started knitting, reading, sewing and also laptop when I can sit up and when lying down is all I can manage I read and learn new things on my Kindle, its a god send, and so much lighter and easier than a book
Get better soon xxx
Hi everyone. I had acupuncture 2 weeks ago and I hit the roof when one of the needles was put in the back of my neck. One side was fine the other was awful and he (NHS Physio) had to take it out and reposition it.. From the day after I was in bed for 9 days with the worst flare up I've ever had, whether this was a coincidence or not I don't know. I really don't know if I want to try it again. Has this happened to anyone else?
hello folks I had acupuncture not long after I was diagnosed with FMS...it was great when I was lying there in hospital but after my session and 20mins later all my aches and pains came back with a vengence...So you could say its only temporary relief..well it was for me...! I never bothered with it again after that first session..or should I say I was never offered it again..because I told the specialist that it only worked while I was in hospital outpatients but as soon as I left and 20 mins later my pain came back...he was not amused and was quite abrupt with me! He also had the nerve to say I was unco-operative he even informed my GP at the time of that fact also!...I was nothing of the sort...I never went back to that specialist again for obvious reasons... !
After reading all the comments on this page I am truly saddned to have to say that it is unlikely for an Specialist Accupuncture Clinic to be set up in an NHS hospital with all the cuts, even though such clinics could prove their worth many times over.
I have a wonderful Acupuncturist, who I saw at North Manchester General Hospital for 9 years, his clinic was tied to Psychiatry so it was good for FM patients. Mant times the clinic came under threat of closure, lack of funds they always spouted, utter rubbish! The senior Psychiatrist every time got the audit sheets and the Clinic lived on. The Senior Psych. retired, the directors waited a little while then, you guessed it closed the department.
We have some of the best doctors and acupuncturists in the world but it is still down to Politics, if your face fits, you're complient and you don't speak out you are ok.
I still visit my Wonderful acupuncturist when I have spare money, he helped me stay sane battling this cruel illness.
If anyone knows that a miracle has occured and a hospital has pledged an Acupuncture Clinic for ever more, please let me know and I will move house
