Hi,

I had accupunture last year, I found the process of lying in a certain position uncomfortable but felt that initially it did work, and my pain seemed a little less than normal, although by the 3rd session it was starting to feel less effective, but mine were every fortnight.

Good luck with it, hope it helps :)

I was referred for Accupuncture at a large hospital in my area, I found the needles going in was painful also lying for 20 minutes in the sanme position was not great. after the third session the points where the needles went in was not painful it was still hurting me 6 hours later. I went back for the fourth session but when i told them of the pain and the fact that the pain my pain had not decreased at all they said not to carry on with it. they told me that it doesn't work for everyone and I guess i was one who it didn't work for.

Good luck and I hope it works for you !!

I'm going to start acupuncture in a couple of weeks with a guy who studied chinese medicine. I asked my dr about it but he said it was more for localised pain, but assumed he was on about medical acupuncture which is different.

Will be interested to know how you get on.

Hi

have had fibro for 14yrs, had accupuncture when first told about fibro, had a six week course ,and was told that if nothing had improved there was no point carrying on, after the sessions I would feel better for a couple of days, then back to pain., I hope it will help you.

I have had a little acupuncture during chiropractor sessions. It is good at loosening tense muscles. However i found that a good deep tissue massage once a fortnight is longer lasting (and cheaper).

I have had acupuncture 3 times in the 15 years I have had Fibromyalgia. The first two times it did not hurt and the benefits were great for a period time. The third time was not so great because she hurt me quite bad by pinching the muscle and then inserting the needle. Put me off acupuncture a bit but I think it depends on the person giving it. I prefer to see my chiropractor now and again for my neck, which I have a bulging disc, and for my sacroiliac joint which pops out.

Hi everybody. I paid to have acupuncture along with chiropractist every week for over 12 months. Perhaps I was one of the unlucky ones but it didn,t do anything for me. Perhaps on the day I went I might have felt a bit better for a few hours or was that me trying to be positive or was it the pain killers working at that particular time. I have over the years spent a lot of money on different things alas to no avail. Guess its true when the doctors say there is no cure. Still we have to keep trying. Hope you have better luck than me all the same. Best Wishes to everybody - perhaps one day they will find a cure. Keep Smiling

I tried acupuncture several years ago, paid privately, when I was going through a really bad time, severe neck and shoulder pains, pain round my pelvic girdle hips and lower back. Sorry but it didn't do anything for me although I thought psychologically it would.

I had acupuncture as part of my Physiotherapy treatment on NHS. The first session was amazing - the pain in my left arm vanished for the first time in weeks! However, the next two sessions did absolutely nothing, which was so disappointing, even though the Physio used additional needles. I experienced no pain what-so-ever with the needles, except for when one did catch a nerve, which just made my arm jump involuntarily! I really hope it works for you. x

I am about to embark on a course of acupuncture at the local hospital. I am getting into a bit of a state about it because my OCD is pretty bad at the moment! I need to know exactly what happens, where i will be and what i need to wear as i cannot touch any hospital clothing or sheets or anything and how many people will be in the room. this feeling is often worse than the pain and stop me getting treatment when i most need it, I am sure i will have to ring the clinic tomorrow to talk to someone but even that is getting to me!
