Glad to hear you are home. Personally I don't have cats but my friend has both a ragdoll and a maine coon. The ragdoll is much smaller and far more attached to my friend than the maine coon and is not nearly as energetic. In fact I nearly sat on the ragdoll as it was curled up and looked just like a fluffy cushion. Intelligence wise she says the maine coon knocks spots of the ragdoll. She loves them both but says the maine coon is quite a high maintenance cat and the ragdoll a lot more easy going. I would imagine the breed clubs for both these cats can give you help and guidance.

Both breeds have so much to give It will be a hard choice
My friend also has dogs - two Spaniels. The Ragdoll uses them to rub up against and the dogs don’t mind at all. The other cat looks down on the dogs. However as we all know there are various characters in all breeds. I don’t envy you trying to decide which way to jump. Whichever little kitten comes into your life they will be very lucky indeed.
.i have a wonderful Maine Coon female, and she’s such a joy. She’s incredibly loving and affectionate, with a stunning coat of long, thick fur that requires brushing two to three times a week. While they’re known for grooming their own stomachs and not being fond of others touching that area, I’m able to brush her back, head, neck, and her beautiful bushy tail.
As she’s gotten older, she’s started sitting on my lap, which feels so special. Maine Coons are known for being dog-like, and she’s no exception—she follows me around the house, keeps me company, and even “talks” to me. She’s truly the best part of my world. When I’m feeling unwell, she’ll sit beside me and gently pad my stomach, as though she knows I need comfort. She’s even mastered the cat flap and comes and goes with ease. I couldn’t imagine life without her.

I'm really cut up with my 20 year old moggy,, it's so raw, I have her ashes in a nice little pot and I write her a letter in a special box on my bedstand, I'll never get over her passing, No other animal will ever replace her
I've always had a cat in my life and don't intend changing that, I've done a lot of research and the only thing I'm still a little cautious because I have a miniature Yorky and a standard one, The worry is will my dogs worry the cat when it is young or when the cat is bigger will the cat worry the dogs??🤔🤔 😀
Awwww so sorry for the loss of your 20 year old, it’s heartbreaking 💔 I think the day that happens to me I will hair want to die. I love my animals so much. They mean more to me than a lot of people in my life.
The Maine coon girls are smaller than the boys. The boys can be very large. They are so loving and adore you. I guess you don’t know how one would be with the dogs until you introduced them but it’s like anything, it takes time 💜
Oh my gosh, exactly my Hubby and I say, Our animals are loved so much and we put them first on the love list because they love you so much then any hooomon,
We were only pondering about the maine coon for the fact some of them on line looked just like really cross men lol

Yeeah, Hubby says we can have 2 maine coon so I'm looking for brother and sister and get them sorted as soon as possible, I'm so excited 😀😀😀

Hi Debsdelight, I have a male Maine Coon who had a rough start even though I purchased him through a breeder. 3 years later and he is so much better than he was and quite affectionate but he is now over 26lbs so is huge and I can't pick him up and they can keep growing up until they are 5.!! He does follow me everywhere and no place is out of bounds as far as he is concerned and I love his chirping, he is great company but maybe go for a female if you don't want a giant puss. My vet says he is the largest cat of any kind he has even seen! Good luck with your search.

I had a part Mainecoon for 14 years he died last march he was the most loving cat ever, he would sit on your lap almost always he would say hello when I came in, chat all the time. If visitors came he would introduce himself. He would go out but not for long as he was a home bod. He didn’t need brushing every day but he did get a lot of furballs. He only got to 4 kgs as we didn’t know what mix he had in him. He was purrfect. Go for the one that chooses you. Good luck in your search.

My moggy girl died in Oct, She was 20 yrs old, I've never been without a mog or two,
So I know exactly what that feels like, 😢😢😢 We were going to get another cat before she left so we are sticking to our plan, I cry for her at night, I need another way to grieve for her because I'ts knocking me sidewards with the exhaustion,
We had a vet come to our home and made her sleep whilst we were having a cuddle like any other time in my arms, It was peaceful, It was expensive but like others, She hated the whole experience at the vets so giving her that quiet time was worth every penny,

Ragdolls are very doglike, and don't really mature until they are about 3.
Our last two, Rufus (large) and Kami (not as large) were great house cats.
Kami was very affectionate and loved sitting with her paw over my hand, squeezing it with her pads. Roo was just a big softie. They are very inquisitive, and love to "help" with everything, following you about. They need brushed a few times a week.
If you do go for a raggie, try and get two, or one and a moggie as they love curling up with each other and washing each other. We adopted them when they were 3. We lost Roo last September when he was 16, and Kami the year before at 15. My heart was broken twice.
However, we now have the terrible twins. Luna and Rudi. Ragdoll kittens who are now nearly 8 months old, who are a riot ! They love their cuddles, run riot all through the house, are constantly hungry, and definitely cheer us up.
I love Maine Coons too.

I have rescue Persian cats , very affectionate but high maintenance , they are all that keeps me on this planet
I really hope you don’t go to a breeder as many cats in rescues including a ragdoll rescue on Facebook called Jelly beans
Please don’t put money in breeders pockets when millions of cats are being put to sleep every day
There are also rescues abroad that have pedigree cats that people breed from then dump in the streets

I understand where your coming from and I would of course try the rescues first, But I was sick and tired of having my home checked to be told my garden was too small or how can I care for a cat/dog when I can't stand on my own and walking is a very rare thing, And how could afford to look after them,
I told the last lot that I used my P.I.P and I'd go without if that was the case
Although my Hubby was with me?????
I know they have to do a lot of checking to make sure people look after the animals!Absolutely but to say I can't have an animal really sticks with me, Especially when she could see how well my 2 dogs were,I got them from a breeder also,
