Anti-Smith Antibody
It is present in 20% of people with the disease (although the incidence varies among different ethnic groups), but it is rarely found in people with other rheumatic diseases and its incidence in healthy individuals is less than 1%.
The Anti-Smith antibody targets your body’s own proteins and is found almost exclusively in people with lupus. Though not all people with lupus have this antibody (only around 30%), those who do usually receive a diagnosis of lupus. Anti-Smith antibody is more common in blacks and Asians with SLE (around 60%) than in whites with SLE.Are you under a rheumatologist? Did whoever gave you the test results explain what this means for you?
Hi Phgc, i used google copilot to find this. Ive been trying to do non professional research on fibro, liver, antibodies."can the liver be linked to smith-antibody" in short... Primarily associated with a different autoimmune condition-systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) Not directly related to liver diseases. Hope this aids you in some way, kind regards, Health.
As others have said, the Anti Smith antibody is a marker for lupus (systemic lupus erythematosis, SLE) not fibromyalgia. Are you under a rheumatologist? They are usually the ones who order and Interpret these blood tests and results for you.

Sorry to hear how much you're suffering. Unfortunately the waiting lists for Rheumatology appointments are very long. Your GP sounds sympathetic, though, so hopefully will be chasing it up for you. Some people, in consequence of long waiting times, opt to go private for an initial consultation and to get a diagnosis, and then go back to the NHS for follow up. Though obviously it would be preferable if your GP could expedite an NHS Rheumatology appointment for you rather than having to do that.
The Health Unlocked lupus site is good for information about lupus.
I hope you start to feel better soon.
