PIP Claim

I've finally gotten round to applying for pip, did it online so no waiting for forms to be posted. I'm not optimistic as heard plenty of bad stories. Wondering how long a decision takes when you've actually applied and given all the information

Good morning, When I first applied for PIP, they replied quite quickly and I got my money within 10 weeks. The three years were up last October and I filled all the paper work out in August but had no reply as yet, all I keep getting is a message to say they have my forms and will let me know when they have done it. The good thing is they will keep paying me until they get round to making a decision. Good luck in your application, maybe it will be quicker as you've done it on line.

hi, great news you have applied. I’ve had a pretty decent experience with my first claim, it helps to be prepared, I applied early Oct, had my face to face assessment, just before Xmas and my decision mid Jan. I got regular texts to let me know the progress. Good luck

It's a new service and not available in all areas, go to GOV UK and how to apply for pip, it'll give you the option see if your eligible to apply online. I've sent documents and confirmed my identity online as well as answering all the questions. Took about two and a half hoursGood luck

Hi Coffeefan

As long as uou have written everything in that affects your day to day living and how bad your pain is, and put in help you need such as washing, dressing, remembering to take meds etc, how uour quality of life is affected, I can't see why you can't get it. Although my symptoms have worsened from accident injuries & the Fibro, plus other AI conditions I was awarded standard mobility and stayed on standard help as I lost a point! It really seems over the years its who you see/speak to. You may be contacted for an interview in person or on phone. It can take a couple of months to go though for a decision depending on any backlog, but if successful it will be backdated.

Good luck🍀xx

HiI was already on PIP, but my 3 years were up and so I had to reapply. I sent my forms back in February 23 and have only just been reawarded it. It took almost a year! I had a telephone assessment and despite telling them of a worsening of my condition, I'm still not getting the mobility aspect, only the standard daily living element. At the moment, I struggle to walk to walk to my car and I'm in constant pain in my legs and hips. I really don't know what you have to be like to get given the mobility aspect.

Good luck with your claim!

I'm worse than my husband, he got maximum mobility and I didn't get any! Depends who processes it.

Hi, I also applied online. You did very well to complete it in 2 1/2 hours! I was 2 weeks on and off before it was completed 😟 I received my award back pay in the bank after 16 weeks with no assessment. Well done getting it sent in. I wish I’d done mine 5 years ago! Good luck with it, not everyone has a bad experience x
