Hi

I was recently diagnosed with Fibromylgia.

I have had the flu and I am struggling to recover from it. I am 2 weeks in now and I am still feeling weak, dizzy, getting bad headache and have a rasping cough.

Does anyone struggle to recover when having a virus..?

Thanks

This flu virus is a real pain. It’s lasting way too long, I’m finally getting over the worst, after 3 weeks, but the cough and fatigue, is a nightmare.

My husband is a transplant patient, and his clinic has told him, he may not feel right, for about 3 months, because of his immune system, so I suppose we can expect half of the time.

It attacked all my nerve damage, and muscles, so it can send us into a flare, just rest, plenty of fluids, and pain meds.

I wish you better soon.

Hi Mark1973,

Oh yes I'm afraid I too find any infection, cold, virus simply takes over and stays there until its ready to leave my body. No fun I know.

For me, the only thing is to listen to myself until the whatever has passed. Something recently i thought though was this....... if possible of course, is once i feel better, still rest, let your body completely get over what has happened and then try to get on as normalish as poss....I hope im making sense??

I hope you feel better soon.

Yes, it did FINALLY go. But my goodness what a body blow this one was. I think 4.5 weeks to normality (whatever that actually is with Fibro). A lot of sleep, a lot of fruit - which I usually struggle to do but was craving, vitamin C, D... B12...

It's taken me months to get to the point where I can now undertake tiny walks outside and then I'm broken for 1/2days later... It's very harsh to recover from but I do have underlying immunity issues as well as fibro! It's so lonely being indoors (with no visitors) so aftr 3months I am trying to get out for my mental health...

I do hope you can keep up yr spirits and do some small activities that you enjoy?

Good luck with yr recovery this really is an evil virus for us with previously compromised health...

Hi Mark 1973I had flu when I was in my twenties fit and healthy and it took me 6 weeks to get over it. So in my opinion if you get flu while having Fibro it will take alot longer.

With Fibro I find everything you do or have takes sooo much longer to do it or recover from.

So be kind to yourself and take it easy you will get there.

Hugs Lilly

Bless you 🙏 anyone who has had this flu will be aware it can take weeks . My husband first had it for three weeks and then on to me I have in my 3rd week 🙃 of the horrible virus. I have the awful cough and felt very tried and poorly at times..my energy levels have never been great but they are really bad right now. The best advice I can give you is to listen to your body and rest. Drink lots of warm drinks and when you feel you have some energy use it carefully. Don't overdo things and you will feel better soon . Take care 🙂
