PIP - Telephone assessment

Hi All

Has anyone ever had a telephone assessemement for PIP claim instead of a physical assessment at a centre ?

After all the questions we answer on their online form what is it they need to know on top of all this?

Any info appreciated

Hi there, the form filling is just the start of the claim process. Next step either a phone or a face to face assessment. After all people could put anything on a form. Now they have to try and clarify what a person as put is correct.

My F2F took over two hours. Some take less. Some don't even get an assessment. It all depends what is wrong with a person and how much evidence they can send in with their forms. Good luck with your claim.

Yes twice now. Got high on both standard living and mobility. My advice is be ready. Have your notes what was put on claim forms in front of you plus note down anything else that makes your day difficult. They will ask you the same questions over and over but in a different way. Just keep your answers the same. Make sure you say your answers as if its your most difficult days. Good luck x

Yes I had a two hour telephone assessment. I’ve just been awarded to standard for both. Good luck with yours.

This post gave me palpitations when I got an email notification. Mine was awful, the woman totally bulldozed me amd even answered her own questions. She made judgements about me on the type of work I used to do (I was an account) and therefore had no problems with mental ability or concentration! As above - be prepared. Push back and stick to your guns, work with your worst days and be firm in your answers.

I have complex-PTSD, depression, anxiety, CFS and endometriosis. Mine is going to appeal 😭

Yes, my initial PIP assessment was by phone. The questions were really just asking for more in-depth info about my situation. It was fine, friendly and PIP was awarded. I'm due for a review this year so hopefully that will be OK too. Lots of luck and best wishes. Oh, I should add that doctors thought at the time my symptoms were due to late side effects of chemo. They've now said I have fibromyalgia. I don't know if that will make a difference when I have my review.
