Feeling lonely and unsupported

I was diagnosed in August. I can't believe how debilitating it can be. It's effecting my mental health and I have no family support. It would be nice to hear if anyone has used certain medication to help with mood.

hi MangoBlue, I am 54 female too....I take Zoloft. it is depression?

There are so many antidepressants and also other things to try and also natural things too....it is crazy debilitating, for me, the fatigue, pain, not being able to get out of bed or out of the house...

I have cptsd too....

do you have a doctor or therapist?

I need more support too....

one step at a time.....do you have something for the pain?

lots of things can help....epson salt baths, the list is long...

can learn things to manage it and feel a bit better....xx

Yes I fully understand how you feel I'm in the same situation as you. I have been taking fluoxetine. Sort of helps . But companionship and someone to talk to would be of great benefit as well

I take Sertraline for help with depression/mood etc. I know everybody is different but I don’t get any side effects and I have had no problems stopping it when no longer needed. I live on my own with no family and I know how easy it is to sink down into a deep depression.

Good luck! Look after yourself. ❤️xx

Hi 🙂 I have tried all the medication available and none has worked but this just could be me personally not suited to antidepressants etc.Unfortunately feeling lonely is part and parcel of this horrible and vile illness.

I to feel lonely and upset everyday with this.

Not enough is being done on fibromyalgia research.

Kindest Regards

I get very lonely too. Gradually lost all my social life and connections with friends and family. I had to give up work too. I try to keep busy with all my hobbies and when I can’t do much I listen to audio books. The radio also helps me feel less lonely. Social media definitely makes me feel worse even though it’s hard to avoid the compulsion to check Facebook.

If the weather is ok I try to get out for a short walk when I can. I sometimes can strike up a conversation with neighbours, like if someone is gardening, saying that their garden looks nice can start a little chat. It sounds sad but it helps. I’m lucky that my partner is supportive but he works long hours. I don’t really have anyone else.

I’ve given up on the NHS after a recent horrible experiences with locum doctors. I am on HRT and Citalopram though. HRT definitely helps. I’m not sure if the citalopram does.

It’s sounds awful but I’m generally happy. I try to make the most of good days and when I’m at my worst I remind myself that there will be good days again but there are days when I desperately miss my old life.

Just know that you are not alone. This forum is really helpful.

Hello MangoBlue, Debs here,

I would only be able to keep in touch online as I'm full of the anxieties, depression,

Fibro is consuming,a life that sucks out your soul (Just like Harry Potter)If you let it, easily done and harder to climb back up and then you see a patch of blue in the sky and you realise there is hope, There is help out here

And on that note, I use irony as my walk away humour, Otherwise I'd be sat in a corner gently rocking back and forth,

There are so many lovely Fibro family on the forum,You'll never be on your own I find it really hard to talk to people, The phone is a big No No and going outside is a big NoNo too,

I will not and can not leave my house without Diazepam and a dose of Hubby, I use the tinternet for shopping and Hubby gets the daily stuff, He is a total joy and I depend on him so much, I know that If he was not here I wouldn't cope one bit,😢 Among other meds I take my three biggies would be Fluxitine, Amertryptine and Tramadol, ( sorry cant spell)

You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find out which meds will do the job and don't forget they take around 6 weeks to get into your system,

Take care Debs
