Hi. I'm looking into buying a weighted blanket as I've read that they are good for helping with pain. So I'm just wondering if any of you have used them or still do use them what would you advise. Tia

hi! I use a weighted blanket and I’ve found that it really helps with my sleep which in turn can help pain. I would recommend if this is something you think may be helpful :)

we have had previous posts on this. I love mine and sleep better with it others cannot tolerate them. As with all aspects of fibro what works for one person may not work for another. If you decide to go ahead get the right weight for you but keep out of the way of young children or animals as the weight can prevent them from breathing properly if they snuggle under it.

Hi Dinkie. Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. Out of curiosity what weight is your blanket?

The blanket should be about 10% of your body weight. If you google it there are many tables and charts to show you the suggested suitable weights. It's a really personal thing. Think mine is 6.5kg

Thank you for replying to me. I weigh about 11 stone so I've been looking at blankets weighing 8kg is that about right do you think?

10% of 11 stone would be 7kg, so probably a bit lighter. But I'm sure everyone has their own preference.

Ok thank you. I'll have a look at the lighter weighted ones.

Morning Debbs73.I have 2. One on my bed (7kg) and another for on the sofa (3.5kg). I also use this when I go away. I think they help but not sure! I've not really thought about it!

I have one, I bought a cheap one from OnlineHomeShop. I really like it. I don’t use it overnight, but helps when I’m resting

I also have one from OnlineHomeShop and I use it on my bed. It was a good price too.

I bought one ( a single weighted duvet) at a cost of about £100 and found it just made the aching worse! Best to borrow one first if you can to see how you get on.

Morning Artis

Do the weighted blankets not make your limbs ache even more?

I’ve avoided these blankets for that very reason, as I couldn’t take any extra muscle pain😫

Best Wishes Lj

Hi I have quite a heavy one and it really helps me sleep and it doesn't make my limbs ache even more. Not everyone likes them, but I swear by mine.

Good morning Welshcatlady

Your reply is appreciated.

That’s interesting to read and I’m now tempted to try one, as I also struggle to sleep.

Take care

Unfortunately I don't know anyone that uses one. It's a shame shops don't let you try before you buy.

hi I have thought about a weighted blanket before though I have been reluctant to buy as I feel sore lying in bed and toss and turn all night. Let me know how you get on with it. 👍

Hi , I have them, I'm overweight so I brought 10kg one off amazon, pink Teddy bear material, it's helps pain, and reduces anxiety, I swear by them. Also a weighted eyemask on amazon, £10, help prevent headaches and stress xxx

It's a your mileage may vary thing, if you are a sleeper who stays in one position they're amazing, I'm like a rotisserie chicken the way I turn and for the sofa it's great but on the bed I can't turn over and tend to force it, I'll second the weighted eyemask regardless though

Debbs73 profile image

I tend to sleep in one position on my back, so should be ok then I guess. Thank you for your reply
