Hey Peeps I have looked on here (so as not to bother you again, but cannot find) for the help with the PIP form please. I know you have somewhere I can refer to for assistance with how to best complete the form.

I've not long started (only on 2nd Part) and am overwhelmed with it already.

Many Thanks F 🤗

Hi French88

There are many places that can help you with your PIP form. On here it's..

benefits.advice@fmauk.org or call our Benefits Line on 0300 999 0055.

The FMA UK Benefits Helpline is available Mon, Wed and Fri 10am - 12noon but emails are monitored outside of phone schedule.

They can give you alot of advice.

Also Citizens advice bureau, Welfare Rights, Age UK, fightback4 justice, benefits and work site. If this is your first time don't do it on your own without first looking at these websites or getting advice. A lit of the time it is down to the wording you use and the way you present it as to whether you are successful or not.

I have used Benefits and Work website. Its a small charge per year but I found it invaluable.

I am sure other people will post other advice on here for you.

Good luck and I hope it goes well.

Big comfy hugs

Sorry but just to add. If you haven't already you can phone and ask for an extension to the time. You will most likely be on the phone for at least an hour. They do give extensions thought. Good luck.

Hi I second the Benefitsandwork.co.uk site. It is because of that site that I have got PIP twice.

I applied a few years ago. Before diagnosis. I was totally honest and on the day of my meeting I was having a good day. I applied because of hypermobility. It was thrown out. I believe the person who interviewed me had no medical knowledge at all. Due to my hypermobility I can do amazing things with my body, although it is in constant pain. Don't lie on the form, but do put down the last 7 days of flare up as the last week. Good luck. I'm trying not to claim as I want to work for my mental health.

hi - just to clarify you can work and claim PIP as it is not a means tested benefit.

As far as PIP goes, it's not about any diagnosis, but rather how your disability affects certain activities of daily living &/mobility. Have a look at the activities/descriptors that are looked at with PIP:  cambridgeshire.gov.uk/asset...

Try & give a couple of recent, detailed examples as to the difficulty you face for each applicable descriptor, i.e. when did it happen, where, what happened, did anyone see this, & were there any consequences to attempting/doing an activity?

Say if you can do each applicable activity 'reliably,' i.e. safely, to an acceptable standard, repeat as often as one would reasonably expect, or if it takes you much longer than someone without a disability. See this mentioned at the end of the link above.

Try keeping a diary for a week or so. Just complete a few questions at a time, & you can always add extra pages at the end. Just ensure you put your name & National Insurance number on each page.

You can also ring the PIP enquiry line, as mentioned above, on 0800 121 4433 to ask for extra time to complete the form, & you will be given another 2 weeks without question. The best time to ring is 9am when they open.

Keep a copy of everything 'just in case,' & get a free Certificate of Posting from your Post Office when sending the form off.
