hi folks hope yous all well as can be. I have had fibromyalgia for years now and it’s been really hard to deal at times. I have never claimed benefits for this condition just plodded on as best I could. Now I have started the process getting universal credits and I have a phone assessment at the at the end of the month. Does anyone have any tips that could help as I have heard a lot of horror story’s about these calls. Thanks in advance. Take care all. Tommy.

Uc health assessment call.
I'm pleased to say that I've heard the opposite, & many say how pleasant & understanding the assessors were, so certainly hope you find the same.
They just want to know how your disability affects your typical day, & the impact that has on you looking at certain activities. There's some further info here: turn2us.org.uk/Your-Situati...
Thank you for the reply. It’s made me feel a bit better about the call. Cheers. Tommy.
Hi Tommy. I too have had to claim UC and had an assessment a few years ago. The woman I spoke to was very nice, I didn't feel too overwhelmed by her questioning method, she listened well to my answers and she guided me well when my answers weren't informative enough.
I prepared a little "script" in advance to help me remember what my symptoms and restrictions are like on a day to day basis and that really helped me too.
I'm sure it will be absolutely fine, but I'll wish you luck anyway🤞☺️

My experience is the opposite, the assessor was very understanding and I had an answer to my claim 2 days later which was successful
I would say be ready with your answers reflect on how moving about affects you, how you sit, how tired you get after doing something, personal hygiene ie how it affects you getting in the bath/ shower.
If you're claiming PIP be aware of crossover questions and keep your answers consistent with the PIP answers.
Good luck.
Hi Tommy. I agree with the other replies- my assessor was really nice. Patient and sympathetic. It can be a very long phone call though- mine was over an hour I think, so have all your paperwork handy, including how your meds affect you. Have a drink nearby and if you need to get up to move about, let them know that’s what you are doing. My assessor phoned beforehand to check I was ok to take the call and could tell I was struggling with pain and fatigue and brain fog during the call, and this was reflected in his report. If you can’t process the question, tell them and ask them to repeat it. I was pleasantly surprised having been dreading it and having had a very negative experience with claiming PIP!! Good luck 👍
