Hi everyone. First timer. Sorry you’re all on here. I know what you’re going through. I was diagnosed a year ago, but in all likelihood, I’ve been suffering a lot longer, just not as badly. Had to give up my business of thirty years due to the pain. Now at the point where I can barely do anything. Had X-rays, MRIs, numerous blood tests and so many other tests, I should have been a lab rat. Hopefully at some point I can help in someways, but for now I’m just another king of pain. Just wondering has anyone been prescribed Gabapentin and if so, did it have any effect. I take 900mg a day plus 3000mg paracetamol a day which is proving to have little effect.

I was on Gabapentin for few years, I found it more effective than Pregablin and not so bad for weight gain. Ultimately though I'm on nothing now as I found they didn't help enough to put up with the side effects.

I was on gabapentin for years a high dose - I lost most of my memory because of it … I would not recommend it. The things that made the biggest difference for me were my diet - no meat, caffeine, wheat or dairy that really helped and taking curcumin for anti inflammatory…. Then I saw a homeopath and I’m a new woman I forget I’ve got it now my pain levels are that good…. I’m worse in winter it all stiffens up and is more painful but in summer apart from fatigue you wouldn’t know I’ve got it …

Thanks Daisiemaiskye. I am having memory problems. Will look into the homeopathy. 👍

Welcome to the Fibromighty! The club no-one wants to join!

I'm one of the 'older' residents. I have found that, since I'm past the menopause that my pain is less than the fatigue; and the general wearing out of various bits and bobs. Stiffness and muscular aches, I've gottem! Can't tell if the Fibro fog is normal or Alzheimers, because I forget the oddest things! 😀

I've had Fibro for around 30 years, and it made me have to quit nursing, then quit driving as my vision started to go. Cataract surgery saved the eyes, but I didn't go back to driving.

Three years ago I moved to a bungalow, as I could no longer manage stairs.

Sometimes feel like I’ll end up in a wheelchair. Having a bone scan first to rule out anything there. Hospital waiting periods are a joke. Can’t knock the staff though, they’re amazing.
