PIP Allowance

I have a car on Motability and all my weekly enhanced payment is taken. As of April the weekly pip allowance has gone up from£64.50 to £71 a week a difference of £6.50 a week/ £26.00 a month. Do I get the extra each month as this is since having the car last year?

Hi, logically I would think the extra would go back to you. Has I am guessing the payment they are getting is enough to cover the cost in the original agreement.

I am sure you will hear from some of our lovely members who is more in the know than me.

Thank you. Yes that’s what I think but thought I would ask.

You can have a car under the mobility scheme up to the value of your aaward

If it is more you pay the extra.

If it is less you get the difference

yes, your car is covered for the correct amount, so anything above, is paid into your account. Unless you have any additional adaptions on the car that need paying for.

If you are paying the 'total allowance' (note that doesn't mention a specific amount), then as your PIP increases, all of the mobility component, including the increased amount, will go to Motability. You can always ring them to confirm should you wish, otherwise there's no need to do anything.

Hi, I would be inclined to give PIP a call - hopefully on some of your previous paperwork there is a contact number xx

I've asked same question & apparently you don't. I know someone that's been on pip for sometime & they have never received the difference x

Sadly no they will take that part of it, however you keep the care part

Hi no you don't get anything back if you pay the full amount for your car it all goes to motability which it's not fair really cos you took it out on the old amount

Hey Tamsam22,

Why don't you give your supplier a quick call, All your questions would be dealt with,No worries, then you can sort of plan the rest of your day 😀 I'm sure they would give you a ring or e-mail saying your payments have gone up,Some miracle may have happened and your payments could carry on at the price you already pay,

Hope you get the answer your looking for,

cars are all different costs.

The payment of your car remains the same, so if your pip goes up you get the difference.

I had an argument with these Motability people about this. This was when I could see well enough to drive. The car that was suitable for me could be rented along with insurance for about £100 to £150 less than the allowance I got but they took the lot. Te excuse was that we cost them more due to the damage that myself an my friends cause to the vehicles. Which which I told them was a load of BS and a compete racket. Anyway I got the car from a normal seller and we had a very pleasant relationship for about ten years, until it became obvious driving was no longer an option. They would have also taken any increases or bonuses that were paid to me and this was also spent on my kids rather than the back pocket of some fat parasite.

Full amount goes to mobility, checked mine and it states if it goes up they still get the full amount.
