breast soreness one sided and localised

I have had pain in one breast for about a week (not related to cycle) and keep checking for lumps and I can feel all the usual soft squishy lumps but this one has a bigger squishy lump in the middle than the other breast, and it is where the pain is. Does this sound like a cyst or something? Also it feels like the area around the nipple keeps tightening. Any ideas please? Btw I’m not menopausal and it’s the middle of my cycle.

Recurrent lumps can have various causes , harmless or harmful.This is one of those symptoms that you don't delay with and should be checked whether you are a Man or Woman.

If you keep feeling lumps, even if they come and go , you do need to speak to a GP about it and get it examined. If there is a delay in being able to see the GP , request an appointment with the Nurse for an initial examination instead.

They should refer you for an x-ray or scan to assess the type of lumps you are getting.

Often they are benign cysts that can happen with hormone changes , especially if they aren't painful and you are in menopause or post menopausal , but sometimes they aren't , and that is why it is important to take action as soon as you can.

You could try contacting your local breast screening unit , explaining your symptoms and asking if it is possible for you to get a check up or screening done by them too. They are usually willing to do this and it will often speed up the process and give you peace of mind.

its best to call the gp and be checked out, I ended up having a breast scans it was not as bad as thought would be the mamogram. early detection is good for any change, it may just be the time of month, however go for peace of mind.

I didn’t have any lumps, I had a slightly itchy breast & a little white discharge but thought this because years ago I had a piercing that I had removed. I was offered an early mammogram and they found cancer. Always get things checked out. It may be a cyst but the doctors are the ones to ask!
