Hi all,Hope you are doing ok in these days, especially during the holidays :)

I hope meeting with family and friends helped with your mental health and overall giving and receiving lots of love !

I am an European with settle status , on universal credit and pip due to fibromyalgia living in London for several years.

I have been forced to be on benefits as i cannot work since around 2 years a cause of fibromyalgia.

Lately I am thinking to try to study on university but I still can't work so I am worried and wondering what kind of help there is , if at all for someone on my situation? As i can't risk to loose the financial help that i am receiving to live at the moment if I want to try to study something for a future where i hope i will feel better.

I have searched online but there are so many information and contradictions that i am feeling lost and without an answer.

If anyone has information please let me know, it would be so much appreciated.

The thought of studying is kinda giving me hope for a "better" future for myself.

Please share your info if you can xxx

PIP would continue if you study, as it is not an out of work or sickness benefit. It is paid to help with the extra costs of being disabled and you can get PIP if you are out of work, working or studying. Universal Credit is more complicated. Some part time study is possible, but you would need to get advice on what is allowed. For degree level courses, the main form of financial support is Government loans for course fees, a further loan to cover living costs and bursaries from Universities to help students from low income backgrounds. Many students also work part time or get support from their parents. Disabled students may qualify for an extra payment from the Government but you have to apply and be assessed. The Government loans have to be repaid after the course finishes, and once income goes above a certain level, over a period of up to 30 years, after which any remaining balance is paid off by the Government from taxes.
