Ongoing PIP Award

Welshcatlady profile image
β€’40 Replies

I came home from holiday yesterday and on my doormat amongst Christmas Cards was a letter from the Department of Works and Pensions telling me that my PIP Award is now ongoing and my next review will be in December 2028 - 10 years after my last review. 😁

This was totally out of the blue and apparently it's because they have changed how often they review PIP awards for those who have reached State Pension age. To say I was over the moon is an understatement! I just felt I had to tell someone, hence the reason for this post. 😁

Hope you all are having a good day, and you all manage to have a good Christmas too. πŸŽ„

That's brilliant news! Hope it makes life a little less stressful. I'm coming up to the end of my first 10 years and am not looking forward to all that stress again.....

Welshcatlady profile image
Welshcatlady in reply to Janecc12

I'm not sure whether they will actually do a face to face after 10 years, but if they do, good luck and I'm sure that your health hasn't improved in the last 10 so try not to stress about it, easier said than done. My next face to face was due in the new year, so I'm really pleased that it's not going to happen.

Thats brilliant news for you ! A great Christmas present I'd say.I'm 66 in Jan...had my review form 8 weeks ago. Sent it back and haven't heard back yet. Dec payment arrived ok and just hoping they'll take into consideration I'll be getting my stare state pension on 26th Jan.

Have a lovely Christmas

That would be lovely for you, but if not try not to worry about it, as I'm sure, that your health won't have improved since your last one. 🀞

Brilliant news isnt it? I got exactly the same letter a couple of weeks ago. The sense of relief is immense, just to know that you dont have to go through all that face to face stuff, trying to portray how bad you feel every day to someone who obviously hasnt got a clue how difficult your daily struggle is. Merry Christmas!

Thank you everyone for your kind words. It certainly is a weight off my mind as my next review would have been in the New year.

Hope you all have a relatively good Christmas and a happy new year too.

Well that is a load off the mind, I am so glad for you, not too much Bailey's at Christmas though it will give you a headache.

Welshcatlady profile image
Welshcatlady in reply to Makie-Uppie

Makie-Uppie I'll try to lay off the Bailey's a little, but not totally because I managed to buy a litre bottle for Β£10 at Tesco's and it would just be rude to ignore it all together! πŸ˜‚πŸ€ͺ Hope you have a good Christmas. x

Thankyou but you will not believe what just dropped through my letter box timed just perfectly to wreck Christmas. As if the seven dwarves drilling holes in my body were not bad enough I have to fill in the PIP forms again, well I was at a bit of a loose end in the 25th December 2022. Still if they had pictures of kittens on each page it would be nicer.

Welshcatlady profile image

Oh I'm so sorry for you, what a bummer. πŸ˜₯ Yes pictures of kittens would make it more bearable. A gentle hug is coming your way. x

I had a 10 year award earlier in the year, I'm not pension age I have an incurable illness, which has no effective treatment. I agree, it is the best news ever and I hope they work their way through all those who can't or won't get better, and all those over pension age too in time. Its lovely to know others are getting to feel how I did, and lets hope there are more and more in time. Merry Christmas to you and everyone else, stay safe and well x

that’s great news! Now you can rest and relax and enjoy Christmas 😊 I have been there too - they turned me down on enhanced - so I appealed - then two days before I was due to go to court - I got the same letter - all of my PIP reinstated and ongoing! Just a light touch review in 10 years time. I understand your relief and wish you all the best! πŸ˜€

Really Happy for you. good to hear good news for a change. Did you not need a face to face or was it a renewal of your ongoing award. I applied for mine in September and apart from them telling me they are looking at my claim not heard anything else yet.

Merry Christmas

Welshcatlady profile image
Welshcatlady in reply to flashyman

Thank you, it was a renewal of my award, I last had a face to face before Covid, not sure when exactly, but during Covid they wrote to me extending the time to my next renewal which was to be in the new year 2023, and then this letter came out of the blue.
