Anger Issues!

For the past 3 months I've been dealing with ear and sinus problems. After sprays, and drops this has finally cleared up. Now,I'm not sure if this is related to the Hypersensory sensitivity I'm feeling about noise.... I cope with the smell, touch and taste aspects quite well now,but for some reason the noise one is becoming more and more of a problem... I know it's wrong, I know I'm being irrational, but the anger I feel at the slightest sound (mostly my neighbours upstairs) makes me want to rip someones face off😡 The aggression I feel isn't normal..... its making my life a misery.... I don't even want to talk to my neighbours if I see them, for fear of shouting and screaming at them! I do have a face to face appointment with the Dr, but that's another 3x weeks away. Any advice?

love and blessings to you all!!💚🙏🏽

So many fibromyalgia sufferers unfortunately have Oversensitive to noise and I can imagine with all the prolonged problems you have been having with your sinuses and ears has made the matters worse. I do wish for your sake you could get a GP appointment sooner.

My gp made the suggestion of having my radio tuned off a station so there is a constant level of "white noise" as it can act as a distraction. I know you might not want to ha e anything in your ears after all your problems but would a set ofear plugs act as a temporary solution? I do hope you can find something that helps.x

I have over sensitivity to noise had it a few years . You need to see gp I had anger issues due to menopause and the lack of hormones etc as well as all the other symptoms of menopause and fm combined . If my gp had not recognised the fact I was going through it did bloods to confirm and put me on patches to help . I am positive if he had not helped I'd either be in prison for murder or in the morgue I was so horrible and anxious and I'm normally easy going even when in chronic pain lol

snap. estrogen/serotonin - same thing to body - means my anger, bad memory, confusion, mood, temperature control, insomnia, dry skin, aches and pains so much better.

Sorry to hear what you're going through, get your Dr to check your hormones, it's a real thing, I'm still having problems after I finished menopause! Also depression, which does happen when we're permanently hurting and restricted due to Fibromyalgia, can include irrational behaviours and anger. I find head phones so I can listen to calming background noise, such as nature, the sea, rain, meditation or classical type music and pod casts about something that I'm interested in, TED talks on YouTube.. the list goes on. Basically you need to control what you hear whilst your going through this. Listen and hear things that only you want to hear. Good luck and sending hugs.

I have my bloods checked every 6 months, and I'm already on HRT, but thank you for pointing this out. And thanks for the recommendations!🙏🏽🧡

Hello , you certainly have been threw it for 3 months, your body is proberly still feeling low and your hopefully starting too pick up from this, my husband waits till I’m out of the house so he can turn his music up , sometimes I can have my radio on quite happily then all of a sudden I have too turn it off, so I differently think us fibro s suffer from sensitivity issues sometimes. Such a shame people are having too wait so long for appointments these days seems such a shortage of doctors, have you tried booking with the surgery’s practioner nurse as they can deal with a lot of things and sometimes there will be appointments available , I tend too do this with my surgery as I get seen quicker, sending hugs and hope you get the right help xx

Hi there, sorry to hear you are struggling. It is just a thought but I was wondering if you had tried ear defenders. My young daughter is sensitive to noise and wears hers at family parties, the cinema etc. They don’t block out all sound, u can still hear, but it takes the edge off the noise. Not sure as an adult you would want to be walking around outdoors wearing them, but at home it might give you a bit of respite from the neighbours. Hope things get better soon for you x

Hi, just a thought: are you taking amitriptyline? I had to stop taking these tabs because they caused a symptom like the one you are suffering.

No, the only meds I take now are Tramadol. Vitamins and a healthy diet 🙏🏽🧡

I started on HRT patches a couple of years ago and they’ve certainly helped with MY hypersensitivity to noise but I’m now going to ask about seratonin too! I still find that when I’m too hot my sensitivity level increases - as if one lot of sensory overload is my limit now 🤷‍♀️.

Hi Ninjananna, Is it maybe an idea to lock your post?

I think the pain and irritations of fibro makes everything else we have to deal with harder. A bit of noise from regular folks living their lives shouldn't be a big deal. indeed some folks welcome noise because that means there is life around them, but noise when you are too often tired, at your wits end pain wise, can be trial. We don't need any extra stress.

If you are under other stresses too, everything can get more intense. Can you see anything you need to deal with? Money is a big one for lots of folks right now. Worring about staying warm which we fibros need to do as prices soar is occupying the thoughts of too many of us. Having a plan can ease the worry.

And I agree, menopause and fibro can have you wondering if you have lost the plot and can ever be normal again. It is an awful combo, If you are at that stage, you could ask the GP is the HRT fully adressing these mood symptoms. I think they can be extremely intense and that is still hugely underestimated by society. Thus when women experience it first hand, they don't instantly connect the dots. The notion that you just get some HRT from the quack, and that fixes everything, isn't always that simple? There can be lots of trial and error before the right regime is discovered. Despite those that say different, we are not all the same and medication is seldom a one size fits all solution.

Women still give up their jobs because the symptoms including brain fog and mood are not under control and it is embarassing, disconcerting and frightening. It's a massive disadvantage that many women still face, especially financially, yet most people like to brush it under the carpet. And stuff brushed under the carpet or anywhere else for that matter really irritates the heck out of me! It really is terribly unfair.

I remember a friend believing she must have dementia because she was so badly affected with brain fog, and another with an otherwise exemplary work record, who had to be reprimanded for terrorising junior staff. All very shocking and horrid and hard not to feel sorry for both parties.

I hope your GP is able to shed light on what's going on and can help.

I suppose you could try meditation, relaxation etc? Or would that just irritate you even more? I reckon telling a poor fibro to relax is kinda heartless because for most of us, there is nothing we want more than for our strung out bodies to relax. But if you can start working on it, and keep your temper, it can help; Eventually.

For the longest time, relaxation was a club it seemed, I wasn't allowed to join. I'd wonder how do others do it? Why not me? And then I'd tell myself I couldn't do it ever, and it was pointless, making me feel worse, and that was the end. Pointless trying to do something you already believe you can't do. Eventually I figured, it was like any other still, you are gonna be rubbish at it to start, and that's OK, really OK! But with practice, it gets easier until you no longer worry about it.

hI, I understand what you are going through as I am also very sensitive to noise to the point that I wear earplugs in the house as well as out and about. Barking dogs really wound me up and I too get angry as I just want the noise to stop, I suffer with daily migraines so all noise is like being hit on the head with a very large hammer, to me the world is a noisy place and I long for some peace and quiet, I even envy my Dad who is deaf!even some one talking to me wounds me up after so long. I'm sorry I don't have any answers but you aren't alone. I do however hope you get some relief

I was just wondering how you are? Have your neighbours survived? Your comment popped up while I was searching for something else. It totally resonated with how I am feeling. My poor husband can't do or say anything at the moment. Please don't get me wrong. He can be an absolute pain. However, at the moment, I can't even look at him!

I have had vertigo on and off for a couple of months, 2 lots of antibiotics for chest infections and ongoing sinus issues. I am also about to hit 50 and I am wondering if maybe menopause has reared it's head? When I don't feel like breaking anyone's legs, in balling my eyes out.

Crosspigs ..... how kind of you! I'm a little bit better thank you. I decided to tell them about the noise and how it's affecting me, and joined 3x property exchange sites. I also realised that the nose drops I had been prescribed for sinusitis had steroid in it..... not sure if that was the main reason, but I've had a bad reaction to steroid medication before, and think this was the cause...... like you, I ripped my husbands head off any time he spoke!! I hope you feel better soon, take care! Love and blessings Ninja nanna 💚🙏🏽
