Hi,

I was given a new pain relief to try. Transdermal patch Buprenorphine.

I was wondering if anyone else has or is using this and if there is any side effects or if it is any good. I'm a bit cautious of using this one. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I found it was really convenient and much better than popping pain killers 4 times a day. I also had more consistent pain relief without the dip you can get before your next dose of pills. Unfortunately, I had to stop using them as I was allergic to the adhesive and my skin ulcerated where it was. I did feel a bit strange and lightheaded the first few days but that soon went.

Hi, to help put some perspective on these patches I have been wearing them for over 20 years and provided you keep your neurologist or doctor up to date as to whether the dose is working as it should you should hopefully be OK. Good luck 😋

Hi Flame_lily I have had them but had to stop using them as i got a bad skin reaction I can't remember if they helped or not sorry Im in process of weaning myself off morphine x

i have recently been prescribed these. They are working well so far with the only side effect being tiredness. Itmay take you a while to get the exact doseage, its trial and error. I take 15mg but am thinking i may need another 5mg.

Hi Flame_lily , I have been using buprenorphine patches for a year now. It was prescribed for my arthritis pain. It doesn't do nothing for my fybro pain. I'm on the lowest dose and I pray it stays that way. It took me two weeks to get used it and I had most of the side effects in those two weeks. I looked and specifically felt like a walking dead. Honestly I felt horrible 😪. Saying that after two weeks most of the side effects were gone . It makes me tired but i also take lot's of other medication 💊. I also had lots of skin reactions, skin infections needing antibiotics but to be honest I'm more stubborn than the skin irritation or even infections. I didn't give up. Now I known where to put to patch , I can only put it on my arms, how to treat it afterwards and it also depends how low my immune system is. I'm glad i didn't give up , because I could start physio for my hips, which I couldn't tolerate before. I use it until is time for hip replacement. Good luck 👍. X

I suffered with skin irritations caused by the patch but then I read that rubbing a small amount of low dose hydrocortisone to the skin 2hours before you apply the patch it would prevent any soreness and I’m happy to say it works,I checked with my Doctor and she said it was fine so that meant I didn’t have to stop the BuTec because it really helps my condition.

I use them they are brilliant I am on the20 mg dose, and I wouldn’t be without them.
