don’t mess with my meds and not inform me😮‍💨

Today I went and picked up my meds from my usual pharmacist. When I got home I saw that there wasn’t my long term diazepam. These are so important to me and being able to function. I had spoken to the pharmacist at the surgery, although be it a telephone consultation 😩🤦‍♀️Approximately 7-8 weeks ago. I was having an extremely difficult stressful time and the 14 per month diazepam wasn’t enough for me to get through certain days. So, the outcome was that she prescribed 40 mg of propanol as she said she wasn’t able to up my dose or increase the amount of diazepam. All well and good as they have really been helpful. But today I have been left without either diazepam or propanol 😳😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨I was so distraught when I eventually got through to my surgery after trying for hours and probably have used up all of my minutes on my phone 🥲so now when I need support to speak to friend/family I shall not be able too🥲additional stress and anxiety/panic attacks to an already hard day to day existence😡😡it’s just one battle up hill after another. The only thankfully good outcome is that I spoke to a very, extremely helpful young lady who is going to call me when they get a cancellation and I pray to god that it gets sorted

So sorry this has happened to you. I know how frustrating it can be to pick up your meds and see you've been given the wrong thing or not enough of something.

If no-one call you back, I would definitely call them again to ask why the change.

I hope you get it sorted soon.

I get where you are coming from, changing or not supplying something can be extremely stressful, and with stress being one of the main causes of a flare, it makes it very difficult to deal with. What makes it worse, is the change is made without prior consultation. I hope you can get this sorted quickly, at the first sign of an increase of symptoms I would be straight back on the phone.

hope you get the meds sorted soon,

learnt other day my pharmacy does not put the meds together, its done in a pharmacy warehouse somewhere, and just delivered to the pharmacy to hand over🤔

normally my meds get missed when a review is due and nobody has had time to review (one of those hidden jobs) tend to write review due and thank them very much. lets hope something simple like this has happened so can quickly be dispatched.

if need pay as go can buy air from the t supermarket online and they email a code an hour after payment. if that helps?

gentle hugs

I understand the diazepam dilemma. GP’s had notification a few years back about it. I went from 5 mg to 2mg with no consultation. After several ‘chats’ with my GP I got her to understand I need them.1. Muscle spasms from rotator cuff condition I get at night. 2. I’m autistic and anxiety can be triggered due to changes, social settings etc that can send me in a spin andi can’t function.

I had to fight my corner but won. 2 mg x2 at night and when I need it.

Just have to put in email to GP explaining why you need it and to support you request as a GP for your well-being.

hi Hellbell59, thank you. Oh really, the gp called and was very helpful and understanding. All sorted and I can pick up the diazepam tomorrow 🙏🙏plus keeping with the propanol too as they are helping. I woke up at 5am having a panic attack 😮‍💨😮‍💨and was bad getting to work but knew I needed to get there with people to support me. It’s such a horrible feeling to put it mildly and my back was killing me walking there as I was so tense. All fine now though as long as they are actually at the pharmacist when my dear friend/colleague goes to pick them up for me 🙏x

hi Hellbell59, I’ve just come across my post where I said propanol instead of co codamol🤷‍♀️Not a major thing but I’ve just replied to someone else and was telling them about being on co codamol and thought if they read my other post it maybe a bit confusing

just been reading your message. I’ve been prescribed propranolol and diazepam. However propranolol made me faint twice - blood pressure dropped too quickly, and I’m scared to take diazepam in case I get addicted whilst suffering Sertraline side effects. Diazepam at 2mg works quickly and feel so much relief but scared it will be stopped.

hi Valleyheath, I too am on diazepam but along with co codamol and naproxen. I only take the diazepam when I’m in a very bad way ie in pain and 2 a day. I am fine with that and haven’t felt that I’ve become addicted to them, obviously everyone is different and reacts differently to medication. I’m fine with co codamol but only took one tranadol years ago but it affected me so badly that I have never taken one since and yet others can take tramadol without any ill effects but not the co codamol 🤷‍♀️

Hello,

I really feel for.you. i have similar things with my medication. I have actually run out this weekend and i am having the worst time of it. No one helps though do they? And its so stressful trying to get through to surgeries and pharmacists. They are so dismissive and have such a judgemental attitude. Everyone with this condition knows just how bad the pain is and how frightening it can be when it comes on. Ibwould be interested in hearing about your experience with those medications though. I have never been offered them. I run a business so can't be a zombie. Would be interested to know how you manage on them.

sorry forgot to say I hope you have got your meds sorted out 🤞and I totally agree with all that you have said. If it goes wrong for whatever reason it is an absolute nitemare and no, people aren’t very helpful at all, even when it’s their mistake 🤷‍♀️I do try very hard to remember to put in my repeat prescription as it’s unbearable if you run out especially over a weekend or even worse a bank holiday 😩 x
