Hi there, good morning 😊 I have suffered with both anxiety and panic attacks all my life. Talking from my personal experience niether are caused by fibro alone.

Yes you can experience those kind of problems when you have fibro. But just like I also have severe OA but the OA was not caused by my fibro. Totally separate health issuies.

If the anxiety is disrupting your sleep or life in general, I would advise you to have a chat with your GP.

Worry and lack of sleep can make your fibro feel worse. And yes fibro can make anxiety feel worse. But they are separate issuies and can be dealt with separately.

Hi fibrogirl41,

I also suffer with anxiety, it's been with me for as long as I can remember and can be hard to handle along with fibro.

After many years of suffering, and lots of meds/treatments that didn't really help, I've come to the conclusion it's just a part of who I am. As with the fibro, I try not to battle against it but work with it letting my body (or in this case - mind) tell me how it feels and try to do things I enjoy doing.

We all have to do the daily stuff to get through life that can drag us down, but finding things that you enjoy doing and allow you to breathe and feel contentment, can be, in my opinion, the best therapy for anxiety. And this in turn can also help with fibro.

I hope you find some way that helps you soon.

😄

hi thanks ❤️ I am hoping to go to hydrotherapy this afternoon maybe that will help and I am going to talk to the doctor about it but I don't like the idea of taking funny meds x

Enjoy the hydrotherapy! Meds made my fibro fog worse ... but we're all different, so they may work for you - good luck! 😍

Good morning, yes I have had anxiety and depression along with panic attacks since my early 20s. I do take meds and they help me personally enormously to just feel ‘normal’ I have had cbt and although I obviously can’t go into it all on here the one thing that for years since I use when feeling like this is, something they taught me and it does take practice but it helps me to focus on absolutely nothing else is when you feel panicked sit and close your eyes and just repeat over and over in your mind white polar bear. It sounds odd and simple but after a short period of time you can think of nothing else except that and for me it clears my mind and I eventually feel calmer. As I say it takes practice but I hope it’s a tip that you can try ❤️

If you don't like the idea of meds then perhaps try CBT. In our area we can self refer but I know other areas may need GP referral. CBT doesn't work for everyone but it may help. All I would say if you do decide to go down that route then go with an open mind.
