Hi again Jess, no you hang onto your decision letter &/the assessor's report. However, put them away, as unless you can irrefutably prove that anything in it/them is incorrect, that won't help you further in appealing the decision.

You should put your Mandatory Reconsideration in writing either by a letter, as you mention, or using this form: assets.publishing.service.g...

Remember, PIP isn't about any specific disability, but rather your functional problems in doing/attempting any of the applicable 12 PIP activities/descriptors 'reliably.'

So, give a couple of real life detailed examples as to the difficulty you faced at the time of your assessment, i.e. when did it happen, where, what happened, did anyone see this, & were there any consequences to attempting/doing an activity such as pain. fatigue, etc.?

Say if you can't do an activity 'reliably,' i.e. safely, to an acceptable standard, repeat as often as one would reasonably expect, or if it takes you much longer than someone without a disability. Check out the descriptors again here: cambridgeshire.gov.uk/asset...

If you do your MR as a letter, ensure you put your name & National Insurance number on each page. Keep a copy, & get a free Certificate of Posting from your Post Office when sending it off.

It can take up to 12 weeks to get a reply to your Mandatory Reconsideration.

If it helps ,we got the the form but it mentioned an online one so was easier to type it out on the online form then print it out .I did find that in the extra information part ,it was easier to use a word document to copy and paste it over though as did not hsve any spelling check in it as was fiddly but meant I could keep correcting sentences every time I went back to it.

Hi Jessica, DWP issued the decision so there is no need to send with your mandatory reconsideration letter Please include any further information from GP and consultants to support your appeal.

Use your report as reference for the descriptors. Each descriptor is awarded points so go through what they have awarded you for each descriptor and explain how you think each one is related to you and your circumstances. Give examples if you can for each where applicable. Remember to keep copies of everything you send to them.

Thank you CM1EDSUK , Elisim & Mpalgal , I appreciate your replies. I have picked out everything they have lied about and corrected them. They are ever so bad!!

I have everything times 2 to keep a copy for myself

Hi JessFM, I would get support from CAB if I were you. Advice on here is great but its too important to be doing alone, especially if its the first time you're doing a mandatory reconsideration. If not CAB, try a Welfare Worker from your local One Stop Centre. All the best 😍

Have a look at Benefit and works as they have very valuable information about this, especially on how to word things etc. They have subscription for the full access to there website around £15/17 annually. Absolutely invaluable and worth every penny. I have personal experience of using their site and following their info and guidance and was very successful with PIP first time round. Obviously I know everyone’s experience is different.

One last thing it’s probably obvious but don’t write down they have lied, just put down how each descriptor affects you.

Good luck

Hi, there is no need to send the report, just a letter will do. I was awarded zero points, sent a letter and was then awarded the enhanced rate so please don't give up. I have just sent in my review forms and I am ready to appeal again. I don't have fibromyalgia but like others have said it has nothing to do with the condition itself but how the condition affects you, good luck.

Thankyou very much Jacko, what do you get PIP for if you don't mind me asking? I hope this letter helps.
