I've been tired all day especially this afternoon, so I thought I'd have an early night,. Now I can't sleep! The way I was feeling I should've just dropped off!

It happens to me a lot, it’s so annoying. Even when I do sleep though I usually feel as if I haven’t.

Full moon! It has an effect on clams shells too and me. Documented by others too and a nursery rhyme! It's a real effect. Better sleep tonight. A (safe) sandalwood diffuser is good at night to settle down with and wave sounds. A little walk mid afternoon rather than a little walk later might help too.

Have you tried Melatonin? Some people find that helps them. Sometimes I find listening to a meditation recording helpful x

I think I've tried something similar to no avail. But thank you x

Try a weighted blanket. I was very sceptical but I now use mine every night. Good luck. 😊

I couldn't bare having something over me in this weather. I get over heated very easily

You might be surprised. Just don't get a fleecy one.

Hi honeyFibrodebraFog ;-) - I get this often, altho getting a first short stint of sleep isn't usually the problem. Whenever it does, like LynnYorm I get up again and do something nice, usually typing actually does the trick (screen on nightshift after 7pm), whilst there is nothing else I can do like reading or going for a walk or something boring that helps me at all.

Just a few things to what others have said: Weighted blankets, melatonin, tryptophan, 5-HTP, CBD oil didn't work at all for me. What I would definitely recommend is trying Yoga Nidra recordings, as they can incite or at least substitute sleep. I use Ally Boothroyd, esp. her 1 hour for insomnia video. Doesn't always feel right, but does usually, and especially when I have the feeling I desperately need to catch up with sleep, or it's a day when I can't afford to just "sleep when I need it".

I would also recommend trying the supps that didn't work for me as well as those that do help, which are the amino acid GABA (that's a science tho) and an overdose of passiflora.

What helps me a lot, especially with getting to sleep or sleep breaks, incl. chatterbrain, is very short cold showers (3 tonight gave me the longest sleep stints I ever have, 3.5 and 2.5 hours). But of course you need to be a bit brave and start getting used to it bit by bit, first just feet & legs etc. I am even more cold intolerant than most, and have Raynauld's - 4-5 pairs even now in the heat, but these short sharp shocks decrease cytokines and cortisol), and warming up quickly afterwards is very comfy & restful.
