Cramping

Hi all,

I just wanted to ask if anyone else suffers with cramping in different parts of their bodies, like upper thighs, feet, stomach and hands? For me the pain can last from a minute or two, or up to 15 minutes. If you do suffer with this, can I ask if anything works for you that might be able to help me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Flame_lily

I must admit I get a lot of muscle cramps when, I believe my body is depleted of certain electrolytes, such as potassium, magnesium and sodium, I use the sauna a and steam rooms to sooth stiffness and aches/ pains so I feel this is definitely a cause of depletion,

I am not consistent with anything tbh, as I take each day as it comes, some days are great some not so, as iam sure your fully aware..

I now take coconut water to sauna ( for potassium) and try to drink a glass of andrews powder ( 1 tbl spoon) and a large pinch of Himalayan salt as I remember once or twice daily ..

Hopefully this is something you can look into, and try ….all the best

Take Care

Thank you very much. I'll definitely try these as the cramps are a killer. Your advice is very much appreciated. 🙂

Hi Yes one example pointing my toes as I try to pull my boots on and they can cramp and lock sooo horrendous.. it’s just random, excruciating and annoying sometimes especially when you know you’ve done nothing to cause it..

good luck, I tried cbd and lobas oil massaging, but wanting a prevention rather than something to ease the discomfort , had me seeking the electrolytes I need to be more consistent tbh it does help and reduce occurrence

Good luck

Hi Flame_lillyI have suffered with cramp for around 25 years now. I was prescribed Quinine for relief, it did help somewhat but not enough. The Doctor increased it to twice a day. Unfortunately, I do still suffer with cramp 2-3 times a week, sometimes more, but not quite as severely as I did. I get it a lot in my left hand, feet mostly, but do get it in other areas occasionally. I am sorry I have not been much help, I can only say about what gives me a little relief (btw I do find putting on warm gloves can help for some reason) all the best and I hope you get some relief.

Feet and calf’s and thighs were my areas of cramp, made better by taking magnesium malate in the morning, and magnesium glycinate in the evening, and the occasional magnesium salt bath, stretching and exercising seem to help as well.

Hi Flame_lilly

Have you tried magnesium spray or lotion directly on to the area? Magnesium flakes/Epsom salts in your bath if you can have one.

Also find compression gloves quite helpful & the rather fetching support stockings!🙄 Flight socks are quite good too though.

Hot or cold, freeze spray is always worth a try & a good old hot/cold water bottle. One of the really long slim ones are so good for wrapping around anywhere you need it.

Hope some of this helps, magnesium spray is my go to every time but unfortunately doesn't work for everyone. 🤞For You x

Cramping, like a bowel cramping if nature calls? I get severe tendon problems. You know the ones in your leg when you have to get out of bed an stand up, I get them all over.On 400mg pregabalin 3 times a day with equated to 600mg twice a day, also of 20mg Butec patches and para/codeine but i have severe erosion of spine and a useless hip. Get a diagnosis you are halfway there, it took me 13 years for mine. It's down to 0 C outside and I can go out in shorts and feel no cold. No nerve responses in feet or reactions to the rubber hammer or very few. balancing this with 5 other disabilities is hard. My new diagnosis is no surprise due to the number of bowel tumours I have. Being tested for FAP, everyone thinks i have it so do I. The doctor said how much do you want to know, I said everything well she said it will cause cancer with certainty. In bile ducts, gallbladder, Stomach, Liver or even the brain so who knows what awaits me.
