Hi bbsport, sorry can't help you, people tell me I have one but I've never been to the docs with it, I hope ll goes well for you and you get the answers u want, be thinking of you let us know how things go.....hugs...Dee x
I am unsure to have it done my right foot bunion is bigger than the left and to be out of action a long time I could not do as I need to get to visit dad daily as he lives ion his own as we lost mum to cancer four and half years ago he is 86 also I remember mum have hers done and it was horrendous and from what I can gather they cannot guarantee the operation will work so I really don't know what I should do. I am currently taking almost 30 tablets a day for pain and other things !!!!
Hi bbstport since having Fibro I've had 3 ops, both feet operated on for plantar fasciitis where they. It the ligaments and nerves and I've recently had my gall bladder removed. I think maybe it's taking me a little longer to recover but other than that is no different to surgery at anytime. The taking longer to recover could also be because I'm not as young as I was. If the surgery is going to help which I'm sure it will, I think you'll be fine!

Last post meant to say cut the ligaments sorry for typos. You'll probably be unable to drive for a week but bunion surgery is quite straight forward. My foot ops meant I couldn't walk or drive for 6 weeks and same for gall bladder although I can't drive now anyway. Your surgeon can advise you on all this in your pre op appointment and then you can decide what to do but if the bunion is causing you pain you should get it done. Good luck!

Hello bbstport
I too have a very large bunion on my left foot which is now fusing my toes together , I also have arthritis on the same point ... I have looked into the operation ' even though I have not been offered it ' and it seems it is a good op to have and has a big success rate , the down side is recovery time it apparently seems to take alot longer than they state .... plus having a after surgery plan set up at home is essential ... help from friends and family for shopping , house work, personal care etc .
Good luck with whatever you decide to do
Please keep me informed
Kind regards
Katheryn x
Hi, I had surgery four years ago for both bunions and fusion of both big toes with further surgery on next two toes on both feet, I have had surgery three times now with talk of further surgery as bones wont fuse. In my honest opinion I dont know if just getting bunions done would be any different but I am sorry that I had it done in the first place as I still have pain as if the bunions are still there. My feet are a size bigger and wider now and find it difficult to get shoes that fit and I am waiting to get special shoes made but I am still in a lot of pain. I wish you all the best whatever you decide. Sheendog.
i would like to thank all of you for your replies and I will certainly let you all know what I decide - my next appointment is mid February = I don't still know what to do
I have also experienced bunion pain on and off for about a year but after having my surgery done, my pain was gone and so was the bunion but that does not mean that I have recovered in a day or two. It took me about 8 weeks to recover from it. With good pain management it was only mildly uncomfortable and slightly inconvenient for a few weeks but I highly recommend it to you.

Hi belinda I have had my bunions done several years ago tbh the pain and burning i had before the opp was unbearable. I decided to have the op and I have to say it is the best thing I ever did I no longer suffer from the pain the only frustrating point of the op was being in plaster for 6 weeks my shoes fit properly a most successful op done because of excruciating pain and not for vanity. .I hope others can reasure you to a simple op but no more pain after suffering for years with those ugly bunions. I wish you luck and may u be pain free xx
