Has anyone found pregabilin so good that they were able to come off it permanently?

Pregabalin may help but it is not a cure

Hi, right now there is no known cure for fibro. Some can go into a kind of a remission for a while so I have heard.

But it sounds to me like the meds are working for you. Glad to hear they help 😊

I haven't started them yet! I'll be taking them for peripheral neuropathy (feet that feel as if there is something on my feet like socks or something) in the hopes that it might also calm down an irritable bladder. I haven't had time to discuss FM with my new GP.

I'm certainly feeling the benefit of having slept well. I had forgotten what that feels like! That's not what I'm taking it for but I believe a good night's sleep is the minimum thing for good health.

Hi MaggieI have been on pregabalin for the past year. They will increase dosage gradually. First time doctor increased my dose it made me sort of lightheaded. Decreased dose for a month then increased it again. No problems. I do find it’s helping with that all over pain you feel with fibromyalgia. And also the throbbing pain in my feet. Doesn’t completely take pain away but takes the edge off.

Hi Lupusrelative, First and second dose taken! Well, I thought it was pretty good and I slept well last night, woke up a bit too early, went back to sleep and then had the sleep of the dead! I've just taken the second dose and am off to get my 4th covid booster jab today; I won't have to drive too far, so we'll see how it affects me. I don't feel as bad as I did on amitriptyline - just relaxed, which is probably key to a lot of my problems, as I'm always "tight" when I visit the chiropractor. I'm supposed to increase my dose every two days; I wasn't given the option of not doing that. I'll have to see how today goes. I will try to get to bed earlier and get up earlier. I'm basically taking it for my feet, but really, that's the least of my problems as they are not painful, just weird. Early days.

Wow, that’s good. What dosage are you on? I was started on 75 x 3 daily for a month and gradually increase with a month to try increased dose. Now on 100 x 3 daily.

25 mg x 2 daily but I'm supposed to double that this evening. I don't feel so wonderful today, but then I did have my 4th booster yesterday. Who knows. Because I feel a bit whoozy today, I am a bit worried about going up to 50 mg this evening, when I've got to drive to London on Saturday (My partner's 80th). I wonder if I could stay on 25 mg until next week.

Maybe ask your doctor

I haven't got to know my new GP very well and would be scared to book another appointment. But I did as my haematology nurse and she said lots of their patients have pregabalin and that I should stay on the same dose until I feel more comfortable. I'm very wobbly today. It might be effects of the vaccination. So I might feel better tomorrow. I don't feel tired.

I tried coming off it…. But that just reminded me why I was taking it! It’s a good drug but not a cure

Hi Maggiesylvie I hope you are having a better day or as best you can be having.I was on them for over 4 years and came of last year as my pains got worse with all the medication I was on and did not want to keep increasing. I’m still in pain and waiting for pain management to help me. I have been left for 9 months now.

Hi Dukes, I'm not on any other medications really, just aspirin. I have had a good night's sleep, though I should have gone to bed earlier because I slept in much too late. I feel better than yesterday, when I felt I couldn't do anything and had quite urgent phone calls to make. I did eventually make them but only after a cappuccino! I was fasting and didn't feel the need for food at all.
