Pregabalin
Hi
First, welcome to this wonderful forum of kind, caring, compassionate and supportive people. You will get lots of replies to your post.
I have had gabapentin and pregabalin both of which didn't work for me but I know they have worked for many on here. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Hi I've been on this medication for two weeks now and I must say its helped with most of my pain especially in my jaw!
I have worried about the side effects but havnt experienced any yet.
Also its helped with my anxiety.
I'm on 150 mg a day split in 3 doses.
I've tried so many medications and this is helping the most.
😊
My doc wouldn't give me pregabline (no idea why) but gave me gababentine which I was on for a few years until a year ago but he wanted to try it again? 😒
I’ve been on Pregabalin for over two years with no real effect so I’m now being weaned off gradually with nothing to replace it except self help .Ive been referred to our local gym .
I know it works great for some people so fingers crossed it helps you .sending very gentle hug’s 🤗
Helps with pain.took long time not to feel spaced out with it.dont stop suddenly taking thou.I was wrongly told not to take the evening n morning dose of 450mg before a planned procedure. I collapsed and was on a drip in hospital was there a month.my family thought I was going to die.
Hi and a warm welcome to our community. Here you will find information, support, friendship and laughter too. You will find general information on fibromyalgia on our main website fmauk.org
I've been on pregabalin for several years now. While it does not take my pain away, it reduces it enough to allow me to function
It can be trial and error finding a medication that may help your symptoms xxx
hi, may I ask you what dosage do you take? I am kind of left alone to "how I feel is right" (my doctor simply don't know), but I am totally lost now If I should stay on this (375mg per day) or it is too high or still too low... it works for pain only a little bit, sometimes not at all, but it helps me with falling asleep and it does help to put me on my feet a bit, but my mind is still a mess... I am hoping that I will find someone here who could advise me if it is ok, too much or too low, otherwise I will just have to experiment in the dark with it and I would like to avoid that
Hi, there's no specific dosage for taking pregabalin. I currently take 175mg daily, but I was at 600mg (maximum daily dose) for a while.
Your gp should not just be expecting you to figure out dose ... They should at the very least be offering you regular reviews too check how you are doing, and they should take decision to try increasing dose if that is necessary x
let's put stress on "they should" - I can't make them to care and this one is the best I've been so far... :/
What difference did you feel on 600 compared to lower or current dose? You take only 175 now because it's been a while so you can lower it or you feel it is the best dose? Any clue is precious, thank you
Hi Delilah welcome to our group of friendly and helpful souls. I've tried both - one did absolutely nothing (the cheaper one of the 2) and horrendous reaction to other, (the expensive one, then £120 a box!!!). Good luck with your trial of these.
Good 4 u 4 changing your GP. Makes me angry that alot of GPS do this 2 patients.Obviously most patients don't no the reason but some of us do...
Well done zoonie ..nice one..
Hi Delilah.
I started it again two weeks and it's working. 90 percent of the pain gone. It's the only med that works for me. X
I've been taking it for a week now so I'm still in very early stages. I wasnt expecting to notice a difference but when I woke up after a good nights sleep on the second day of taking it, I felt like I did 10 years earlier, The pain wasnt completely gone, my mind was still a little confused and I was still a little unbalanced, but I wasn't so stiff, I wasnt shuffling when I walked. What was most noticeable was my mood. I think I'm a very positive person in general, but I was so happy and hyper all day. I felt good. Really good. Perhaps it was the placebo effect. I had another good night and woke up just as happy and hyper the next day. I was so thrilled with how I felt I went out for a walk. (I havent been able to do this for months. If I need to get out Ive been having to use a wheelchair) I even did a little light shopping with my daughter, I'm still too anxious to go alone after having falls in the past. I felt a little worn out that evening but still good. A couple of hours before my evening dose I was actually eyeing my next tablet and wanting the next hit. (I've never taken recreational drugs in my life, but I imagined that's how an addict would feel) Bear in mind this is only day 3 on the lowest dose of a drug I was told I wouldnt notice a difference for a couple of weeks.Day 4 and I crashed, I was sluggish, shuffling, uncomfortable, but pain levels were not too high. I spent the whole day in bed, unable to function. I had definitely overdone it the day before. Day 5 I was back up, I felt normal, not a good or bad day, but I had the worst nights sleep and here I am day 6 and it's another bed day.
All other medication I've tried, co-codamol, amitriptyline and codine have turned me into a complete zombie, so I'm very happy with pregabalin so far. Time will tell.
My daughter said it gives me ADHD, but I explained she was actually seeing the real me not the fibro me she's too young to remember the pre fibromyalgia mum.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone else had an immediate reaction to it or am I just strange.!
