Continue to give free NHS prescriptions to over 60s. The Government is consulting on aligning the upper age exemption for NHS prescription charges with the State Pension age (SPA), which would render many people in their 60s ineligible.
More details
Over 60s are generally more susceptible to health issues, and after pension age, have less money available to pay large sums for repeated prescriptions.

Scotland and Wales have devolved governments, each with their own parliament and budget. The Scottish and Welsh Parliaments make the decisions on how to spend those budgets. Health is devolved, so the parliaments have decided that it is in the best interests of the citizens to provide free prescriptions. England don’t have the best interests of there citizens.
Yes I know we have our own parliament living in Wales lol, I'm just wondering if we can budget for this why can't England, as you say they obviously don't think it's important, as someone who has around 8 items on prescription monthly I'm very grateful..
I too live in Wales and the free prescriptions are great, I'm of pension age so would get them free anyway, but I do believe that other areas of the NHS in Wales lag behind England, so I think it's swings and roundabouts. Just saying.
Off course it is about FB hence why the petition for prescriptions as been brought to the forefront because, people in different parts of Britain will be getting free prescriptions and others will have to pay, and they suffer with the same disease. This isn’t equal, in my book.
Yes they are, and I believe they have upped the age for free bus passes, or are thinking about it, too. I live in Wales, free prescriptions for everyone, but other parts of the NHS are left lacking support in Wales.
I was 60 in August and live in England and I sure did get my bus pass. I still work part time but hope to use it on my days off when the weather improves.
That's great news, but I do believe that upping the age to pension age for the bus passes is in the pipeline, in England and Wales. Hope you have many lovely journeys using your bus pass.
Hi, just wanted to let you know that as we have turned 60 and in England it isn’t as far as I’m aware our bus pass as such. It is actually an Oyster card and we won’t get our bus pass as such until we retire at almost 67. If anyone knows different then please feel free to enlighten me 💕
We have worked all our lives and get nothing it seems our age groups miss out with everything when we get near in age the government move the goalposts every single time 😡
