Swelling and slightly yellow eyes

I’ve had swelling in my ankles and legs over the past two months, leaving indentations when I press on them and taking about 2-3 minutes to return back. The whites of my eyes are slightly yellow so I asked a few nurses at my job and they think the duloxetine I’m on may be causing damage to my liver.

Has anyone experienced the same? I’m too scared to go to my doctor as I’m always calling up anyway because of my fibro pain. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi there, I guess you know what I'm going to say right? Please pick up the phone now and call your GP. Yellow eyes are not a good sign and you really need to seek medical advice on this.

Sorry don't mean to scare you but it is important you call your surgery and let them advice you xx

No I know I need to😭 but it’s just I feel like I’m draining resources because I call my doctor surgery at least once a month. I don’t want to seem like a hypochondriac. I definitely have yellow eyes as I’ve had my nurse friends at work check them just for my own sanity.

Sorry but only your doctor can deal with your problem. If your eyes are yellow it could be serious. Who cares if they think your an hypochondriac. I would rather be a live hypochondriac than a seriously ill hypochondriac. Please call your GP. There is no one here medically qualified to deal with you problem. I am so sorry. Please keep us updated xx

You could go to the pharmacist and ask them but as you have already spoken to two health professionals then get on the phone to the GP and make an appointment. If you end up more ill and need an ambulance then that would use more resources. The GP is there for this sort of thing and it may be a telephone consult and change of meds.

Honestly not meaning to come across rude but you already know what to do,

It could be the Duloxetine. I have struggled with this drug. Causes me to vomit and feel queasy all day. Go to your Docs hun. They get paid a good wage to do their job. Hope all goes ok. Xx

My mum had swelling in legs and feet because of medication. Two types of blood pressure pills! One given by hospital, one by doctor. Hopefully your doctor did a medication review to make sure of side effect problems. Good luck with test!

HiI am on Duloxetine after being on Venlaflaxine for a few years. I can say that there has been no difference in controlling my pains at all. Coming off Venlaflaxine was a nightmare.

I have been on buronorphine (morphine) patches for a couple of years but they are no longer effective and the side effects outweigh any benefits, mainly constipation and more tiredness on top of the FM fatigue. The symptoms of coming off the patches are also a nightmare but hopefully another two or three weeks should do it.

I have tried just about every painkiller available plus CBD oil and topical creams but no joy. I don't believe FM pain can be controlled at all. What is just as bad if not worse for me is the fatigue and tiredness. I spend more time in bed than I do out of it.

I'm sorry I have no good news for you my friend but that's how it is for me. That doesn't mean it may be the same for you. Keep trying and don't don't be afraid to call your GP that's what they get paid extortionate pay for plus bonuses for giving out Covid/flu jabs at £12.50 a shot!!!
