if you search on them you will see a lot of posts. They work for some but not others like most fibro meds

They can help with sleeping, due to their muscle relaxation effect, but, if you drive, you may have to take them quite early in the evening, to avoid the 'hangover' feeling and to make sure you are safe behind the wheel.

I've been on it for a month. They worked immediately on the sleeping, and for me that's really important. A bad night results in more pain and fatigue. They may have worked on the pain too, but I may also have been coming out of a flare.

I have been taking Amitriptyline for a few years now they help me sleep and help with the nerve pain. I take them early evening fir best results. All new medication take 2 to 3 weeks before they start to work for you so if at first you don't feel any benefits hang in there a couple of weeks.

Thank you very much for that information my doctor has just put me on thus medication but am finding it hard because am waking up with headache for the past 3 days but I will give it a try

Hopefully the headaches will settle in time. Try to make sure you keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Hope they work for you too.

Hi Paul,

I tried these but they led to sleepless nights, an increase in migraines and other side effects that I could not live with.

They did however reduce the nerve pain that I have due to the fibro for the short time that I tried them.

Everyone is different, you may have better luck than me. Worth a try I suppose.

I had them briefly for IBS years ago, but felt like a zombie.Currently on Nortriptyline 10mg, aggravated Migraines, IBS, and others. But cut down to 2.5mg and gradually built up to this over two months. May be helping or not, to sleep. I tell myself it does. Don't want to up dose really.

Yes I’ve been taken them for 5years I’d never get any sleep at all without them

I get 4-5 hours the only side effect I have is eyes a little dry in the mornings but I use eye drops and I’m fine hope this helps Sending gentle hugs

Hi. I've been on em now for 9 months and I've slowly had to have the dose increased every few months. We're still trying to get the dose right to help me restless legs at nite. I am taking 3 x 10mg before I go t bed at the moment but I will be increasing them soon as they aren't working.

What is it ye would like to know about em??

I take 10mg at around 7:30pm and it does help enough to get a bit more sleep without waking up in agony. I say, not perfect but worth taking. Good luck x

I've been on 10mg to 20mg for a month or so, with no improvement. Doctor has suggested I take 20mg each evening but after another week no improvement. Some days I feel so stiff as though I slept on a hard floor and then other days I feel well enough to run 5km on my treadmill ? I tore something in my shoulder and still have a good supply of Co-codamol and this is the only thing that works but clearly not for the long term, as it is addictive :(

Unfortunately these were the cause of my RLS and, for me, they didn’t work with my back pain either. Just mentioned it ‘just in case’ for future reference. Hope they help you 👍

Probably all of us are given them as a first line of treatment. But they're good for nerve pain, headache, IBS, etc.

Hi Paul , I’m on amitriptyline for my back condition , I have not been given any extra medication for fibromyalgia. I feel that it’s not helped for either ailment & I still have broken sleep . Other meds are Marol , Naproxen, Pregabalin, lansaprole.

Anyone else on these meds ?

Thx hope they work for you Paul
