Glossary - Asking for some help

As someone pointed out recently I can drop into TLAs/ 4LAs and not expand them i.e. 3 letter acronyms :) So it made me think that years ago I created a glossary on the website (fmauk.org/glossary) for just these sort of situations but it probably needs an update.

So I am asking for people to have a look and see if there are any acronyms or terms that are missing that should be there. Just about to add SFN as it is missing,

So check here and post below if there is something that should be added.....

fmauk.org/glossary

p.s. - applies to fibro related acronyms only :)

we have a lot of acronyms that will come up but also medical language so I tried a while ago to put the common ones on a page . So now it needs an update.

Thanks for this Des.

I haven’t got time to go through this list just now, but will later, and let you know.

If you’re using an iPad, or iPhone, and you come across a word or acronym that you don’t understand, you can press lightly on the word or letters, and it highlights them and it gives the choice to look up the word. To use your link though, would be quicker.

As time goes on, and more and more are added to the list, it can get quite confusing..

Enjoy your day,

GP.😊😊

Thank you. The list is in two parts at the moment and an all pages but it is also accessible from the search. On android there is a similar function or I just google and then search for the relevant term.

We can improve this over time but as a short link for the majority of terms it can be helpful for support people to point someone at like me. Or as I put it is altruistic laziness :)

I hate acronyms, so many people use the to appear knowledgeable but have no understanding of the underlying systems. However they do have their place so I will look at your glossary and see if I can spot anything missing, ttfn gbs.

its is not just acronyms on there but terms but the original prompt to my memory was a TLA ;) I come from an IT background and terminology and context is critical and aligns very much with communications within medicine/research.

But with fibro, tiredness and sore fingers I will use acronyms all the time as its what my brain is comfortable with and saves the fingers. Always open to questions but equally I have been accused of being patronising when I explain what I mean. So I just do what I do and be happy with my intent :)

But as soon as I see a word or term I do not know and am interested in then I google.......

My background is biotechnology, mainly setting up and using computers and sensors to monitor and control biological, clinical and chemical reactions, though it was a long time ago. So I lived in a world of acronyms from all aspects, from the hardware, the programming to the complex formulae pertaining to the chemistry. Loved it. Now it takes me 10 minutes to knock this up lol. Still when my kids machines blow up their first port of call is the old man and they have never had to go further. Not blowing facts though a bit off the remit of the site so I will shut up now lol
