Hi I’ve had pain in my back neck arms When I’m relaxing I’m noticing My muscles in my back and legs are all tense and then I try to relax then 2 mins later there tense again I try to relax them again don’t know why it’s doing it. I Have sore heads which can be made worse by sensitivity to light and smells. I also have constipation diarrhoea bloating wind and I’m always tired some nights I don’t get any sleep and it’s mostly 3 to 5 hours a night and I work I feel like I’ve had enough. But the other night I googled why is my spine sore to touch and fibromyalgia was one of the things that came up and I couldn’t believe that everything I felt was connected I have made a doctors appointment to say but now I’m not sure if I should Was wandering if anyone thinks this sounds like it or if I shouldn’t waste the doctors time?

Sensitivity to light, sound and smells is pretty common in fibromyalgia as are some of the other symptoms you describe. On the the other hand some of your symptoms could be for other reasons conditions etc. No one can diagnose online and the safest advice would be to see your GP. The affect of fibromyalgia can differ from person to person best always to get any new symptom checked out.

Thank you I will I just felt things made sense and was hoping that it could start to be sorted as I’m struggling and had enough

Also the more stressed your body is either through pain lack of sleep, worry, or all of the above combined will affect the muscles, making them more tense.every now and again when they are tense try tensing them yourself so lock your legs out if your lying down, tense them hold for few seconds then release, and its that feeling you get when you first release that you want to be mindful of.so that when you feeling overwhelmed with tension do that a few times an it sort of helps your mind to connect with your muscles and in turn relaxes them through time it could help.does for me when a feel tense i think of the area involved and i am mindful about it.as in I realise its tense and do the muscle clenching and relaxing.also drink pleanty fluids flush any waste out off the muscles. I used to work in mental health and was in the gym 6 Days a week.this worked for me and heat.hope thats of some use.

Thank you very much I will give it a try I never thought of tensing them to try and stop it I just have been catching myself tense and couldn’t understand why when I thought I was sitting relaxed Thanks again

Yes Fibro. I’m going through it badly too. Acid reflux stresses me out. Try to eat low god map and take some antacids and ensure you’re eating fibre avoid dairy it really sets it off. Relaxation and keeping busy try to avoid stuff that stresses you or lay out a plan for it. Try to eat real clean and take some sleeping pills it gets outta hand if you’re run down. Be selfish right now & forgiving to yourself you’re body is saying treat me better and your mind too.

Low FODMAP sorry. Yes take sleep aids to help you pass out. That’s what you need take them for awhile and get some exercise something you enjoy even walking in the pool it’s very soothing.

Yes, your symptoms are similar to mine, especially the tension, although I get mine in my neck and shoulders.

Please see your doctor. Fibro takes time and plenty of tests to diagnose. It's a journey.

Hi Thank you so much I’ve just been going to the doctors with one thing at a time cause I didn’t know it’s all related and when I read Fibro the other day I couldn’t believe it was related I’ve already had blood tests from the doctors and a toilet sample the doctor says their fine but I’ve to get another toilet sample in 4 months cause it was a bit elevated On Friday I’m going to mention fibro to the doctors to see what he says. I am extremely tired and sore and don’t know how long I can keep going to work with little or no sleep. I really need some answers and help now
