Sorry to hear things are getting worse. Are you being looked after by your GP? Do you have meds? And would you like any suggestions on pain relief?

Apologies for all the questions but I’ll be able to answer better 🙂

Hello Star. Welcome to the club nobody wanted to join. I think we are all a bit bewildered as to what happened to bring us to this point.

But you have come to the right place. We all understand how worried you are. The symptoms are different for everyone. But on here you will find experts on how to cope. Be it medication/exercise/stretching/pacing and anything else fibro related. You can also get help in applying for financial benefits - should that be necessary.

So ask away. Or read what other sufferers have asked. You will soon be very well informed as to how to cope with fibromyalgia. Saying that - I’m still very clumsy. So that might be nothing to do with fibro!

Best wishes xxx

Fibromyalgia can make people more clumsier and unbalanced

I have been bouncing off doors and furniture all morning, the more I do the more I pay for it, so I just go with the flow. Put it all down to my wild and hedonistic life style and keep taking the tablets.

Poked the post button accidently.

If you are getting worse might be a good idea to get your condition reviewed by GP, perhaps some over stretched social care might be in order to give you a bit of respite. Perhaps actual respite in a short stay home or with a friend who get your problem and gives you a hand.

I used to go to a swimming pool and just floated for an hour sometimes can't wait to get back to that.

Hi StarA12. Sorry to hear things are getting worse, I would recommend visiting the doctor to make sure nothing else is causing it. Regarding clumsiness....I currently have a black eye from falling into a door frame....although I had maybe had a cocktail or two so that is probably the main reason! I am so clumsy that people know I'm always covered in bruises, or gluing broken things together and then trying to unstick my fingers from whatever it is I'm gluing, I even stuck my fingers to my mouth once when trying to wet the glue before it stuck!! Anyway, my point is that the pain is miserable but I try hard to laugh at my own clumsiness because although it's frustrating, it makes other people laugh and life is difficult enough without giving yourself a hard time. I sincerely hope you feel better soon.

The thing I find really helpful is to distract myself by doing something I really enjoy. It is weird, as when I'm doing something fun, it takes my mind off the pain and it's only when I sit down (usually in the evening) then everything seizes up and hurts again. I haven't found any painkillers that work for me and they upset my tummy anyway so I take a low dose of Venlafaxine and try hard to keep going. Not always easy but I'm very lucky to have support from my family. I also have OCD so I haven't quite mastered the pacing yet but I know that when I overdo it, I sure know about it the next day so I think pacing is probably a must!! I try to stay positive but also allow myself some days to be really fed up too. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi StarA12. I always like to make friends however unfortunately I don't have Facebook. I know it's very weird but I have never used it! I tend to use my computer during the day and then try to switch technology off once I've finished work as it makes me very tired. Feel free to chat on here though. I do try to log on every week day. (Although I'm on holiday next week. :-))

You really have to laugh and as for gluing things I have super glued my finger to my trouser leg, then the glue soaked through and stuck the lot to my leg, I walked about like a wounded chicken for a few hours. Luckily super glue is not as super as they make out and skin has that useful and protective dead layer, that everybody seems intent on scrubbing off, otherwise I would not be able to type this lot out.

That really made me laugh. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does stuff like that. Other people always seem so good at things but when I try, I always end up in a mess. My family find it hilarious so that's all that matters. :-)

I hope you are feeling stronger every day. Not sure if your symptoms got worse recently because of a triggering event. If you can identify it perhaps resolving it may improve your fibro symptoms as well? Regarding balance please don't be afraid to taking walks every day. It is by keeping active do we keep our muscle strength, and physical activity is critical for neuromuscular regeneration to occur and be repaired. Even a five minutes walk around the block a day will do your body wonders.
