Mattress advice
Hi, Grant10.
I have a Purple mattress and it works for me. It helps me sleep without feeling pressure points where my shoulders or hips lay at night. Others here use memory foam, and lots of other varieties of materials. It's totally different for each one of us.
See if you can find a mattress seller that lets you try out different types in their showroom. Not sure how the virus has affected this option but you could call around. Prayers, hugs, light and love.
Hi - someone else asked this recently, so here’s the link to that post: healthunlocked.com/fibromya...
Your dog looks lovely by the way. I grew up with cocker spaniels 🐶
Hi there,I have given up on a mattress and have an air bed on top of my mattress and I've been doing this for a few years now,the pain in my shoulder and hips is too much to take without one,my friend with a bad hip tried it too under duress from me and she always has one on her bed now :)They aren't for daily use so I've went through quite a few but it's been worth every single penny to wake up and be able to move out of bed in one min instead of ten plus:))good luck in your search tho :))
Not sure about an universally fibro friendly mattress type, but definitely get something that is cooling.
I got this my sleep is improving and I wake up with less overall pain.
I bought a panda, is gel infused so your body literally molds into it, I bought a pillow too after trying numerous ones..I'm very happy with both, bought them at Amazon as it was cheaper. I bought a weight blanket last week and I've used it last couple of nights AMAZING..I've slept like a baby which before I would normally wake up with the pain neurons times..I would highly recommend them..all the best x
I can tell you the advice I got but as with all things with fibro - your mileage may varyget a firm support mattress with a soft topper, the mattress will give you support a softer mattress won't and the topper will allow you more flexibility, you've probably also been advised to get a body pillow - get a down one - they're much cooler in the long run and last much longer, the U shaped ones are great as well, they can support the worst bits because if you're anything like me you run marathons in your sleep which a weighted blanket can help with. We spend so much time in bed it's worth finding what works for you. Getting both a mattress and a topper [mine has magnetic strips which are meant to ease pain, can't say it has] works because when you need more support you can take the topper off, and if you need more cushioning you can put a second one on, and toppers are much cheaper than mattresses
My hypnia mattress is fantastic 👌 and reasonably priced at £250 for King size
Silentnight ‘natural’ . You will need a second person to turn as very heavy. Goose down topper & pillows & quilts from M&S (Jan sale). Expensive but heavenly..
I use a memory topper it works for me i
I got an airgel mattress. Its wonderful. It doesn't keep your shape like memory foam which can eventually make it uncomfortable
Hi being a victim of the condition I have found a mattress that is firm the best. It takes a bit of getting used to but after a while it reduces the discomfort I feel in the neck, lower back and hips. Actually I find sleeping on the settee the most comfortable, I have a 3 seater topped with a long cushion for a garden bench and spend a lot of time sleeping on that when I can sleep, lying on it my spine is pretty much straight and I think this what helps.
Hi Makie-Uppie, I used to sleep on my old leather settee for around 5-6 years and it was so comfortable I gave my old suite to my son and bought a new leather suite with a sofa bed their mattress was pathetic my fella works for a foam converter and had a special made mattress for me which is very good but I wish I had never got rid of my old suite x
Hi,when I cared for my mum I slept on a two seater couch and had my legs raised higher because it was short and they rested on the arm, took the pressure off my hips I think and although it was a firm couch I seemed to be good for me,this was before I knew what was up with me,I was nagged to sleep in a bed but I wanted to be beside my mum as she was in a hospital bed in the living room as it was biggest,my sleep would get broken in two or three hour parts and I think the getting up and moving then turning and back to sleep after helped me not get stiff like when I slept in a bed,but it's right to say an old couch can be just the ticket for a change:)))
I have recently bought a tempur mattress and it’s absolutely bliss
