Anyone ever had blue hands?

Been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in Feb 2019, (had it since late teens but they don't join the dots do they?) and then in March 2019 I was attacked with a knife by someone I supported. My life has never been the same.

Fast forward to this year and the perpetrators is out, I tried to return to work and my PTSD kicks in. So I'm off on sick AGAIN.

Been experiencing horrible pains really debilitating on my left side thigh and my arm, but the strangest new thing is waking up with blue hands. It appears on my knuckles fingers and wrists on both hands.

They are not cold and the blue doesn't go away until a few hours later.

Phoned GP and he has advised stress is making my fibro worse.

Anyone get the blue hands. My mum says she does. She is a warrior 2.

I wouldn't think this is a fibro symptom - sounds like it would be more connected to circulation issues or something (Raynaud's for example)

Hi there, its not a fibro symptom I've heard or seen in my 40 years of having fibro. I would definitely feel it is nothing to do with fibro. I would get another opinion from a different GP at your surgery if I was you xx

Agree with dizzytwo if it was a phone call from your doctor I would certaintly ask to be seen properly at the surgery, good luck x

Hi everyone. Thank you. Renauds usually comes with blue hands if hands are cold. Thats what I had read. My hands are not cold.

You know wha it's like though the see your diagnosis and just tell you it's that. I'll give it another week and see.

Thank you.

I have Raynaud’s and it does tend to be related to cold, although stress can trigger it too. But the pattern of your blue-ness doesn’t look like Raynaud’s in my experience - it normally starts in the fingers not across the knuckles and wrist. Have you had your blood pressure taken recently?

Yes I was taken into A & E on Friday so they did blood pressure and ecg. And blood sugar.

Hi Furmummy, I thought that was Raynaulds and my doctor told me Raynaulds is fibromyalgia symptom. Unfortunately, my hands go darker rather than blue when I get it. And yes, I get it under stress. But then again, Fibromyalgia affects us differently. Get it checked out since they remain blue even when relaxed or warm.

I get blue hands. Well, purple and red and I get the dead white fingers. Always have done. I believe it's Raynaud's?

Low blood oxygen levels eg when sleeping, can give blue hands etc. How is your sleep; do you wake up a lot, go for a pee, feel exhausted/tired during day? I am going down Sleep Apnoea testing route currently ( have fibromyalgia, hypothyroidism, insulin dependent diabetes). The oxygen levels are ok during the day, I have tested mine just with an oxygen meter when I wake during the night.

I always waking up through the night with pains, and go through bouts of insomnia if I've not took sleeping tablets as I also have PTSD.

I've been a lot more relaxed and starting to sleep so past 2 morning I've been OK.

Ok, just a thought when you rule everything else out! I regard getting to sleep by 2.30 am as good, sometimes 4.30...sometimes it is just that I’ve forgotten my cocodomol that just takes the edge of my pain and stops me moving around trying to get comfortable.

Raynauds is common in fibromyalgia it could be that alot of people with fibromyalgia have it xxx
