Hi I had the Pfizer vaccine a week ago, I did have some side effects, headache, generally feeling tired and unwell, and the site of the vaccination was sore for a couple of days. I just took some Paracetamols, I don't take pain meds regularly, and felt better. Just mild side effects for 3 to 4 days, nothing serious, and I would recommend that everyone has the vaccination.

we have had a couple of discussions on here about it and for the most part people get a sore arm if anything.

Some safety info etc here: bbc.co.uk/news/health-55946912

I have neuralgia on top of my FM and dread having injections. But I had the Oxford one and expected some pain, but I didn't even feel it! Nor did I have a 'dead arm' like the flu jab normally gives me. So, no, no effects! 😊

No nothing I had the Astra zeneca one

Had the Oxford vaccine and was totally out of action for 24 hours. Migraine, nausea, but not sickness and slept on and off most of the day. Was upset anyway as didnt realise at the time, as nothing was said and I never thought to ask,; I had finally motivated myself to have jab, after weeks deliberating, as was concerned about side effects as I always have problems. I was prepared to have Pfizer. They were tolling it out in our area. DH had had it with no problems, and I felt quite confident and decided to go ahead. I definitely didn't want the Oxford as I felt it hadn't been tested enough. I had no idea they were changing vaccines. I am very worried about the 2nd dose. I have been extremely unwell for the last twelve months and really don't want to have it, but what else can I do now. As well as fibro. am having problems with my thyroid and have multitude other symptoms feeling really poorly a lot of the time, which is not good as I am also carer for DH who has dementia and is barely mobile. Am having a thyroid blood test today. Had a full blood test at end of December where various things out of wad but doc doesn't seemed concerned other than testing thyroid again. Sorry to whine but I am extremely worrried that I feel ill all the time and can't seem to find any answers.

You have not been well for a lenghty time so it’s understandable to be worried and felling horrid all the time, also the fact you are a carer puts more strain on you. I am yet to have my 1st dose, they are moving on the sixties age group here in my part of Suffolk, good that you are keeping on top of tests with your doctor, even if you ask for a call back and speak one to one over the phone with any concerns, I hear a lot of surgeries are arranging call backs to speak to patients keeping the volume of people down entering the surgery at the moment. Sometimes I’ve had call backs from our practioner nurses, they are really lovely and helpful and put me at ease if the doctors are really busy. Roll on Spring ShellWhitt I’ve had enough of the Winter now , it’s snowing again I can see from my window this morning ❄️💦🙁xx

Sorry you have had some adverse effects but glad they were short lived.

As to the testing of both vaccines, an argument can be made to say the oxford vaccine has a better testing profile as they were coming from a known platform whereas the pfizer is using a new approach.

However, both have been fully tested and there safety is being continually reinforced with the regulator data as per my link above. More people will get the oxford vaccine in all likelihood as we have ordered more of it. Also we have a better supply chain for the oxford one.

Good luck with thyroid test.

Hi Londinium. It is an ongoing saga. I have had a lot of support from the Thyroid site, and made an attempt to start sorting myself out at the beginning of last year.but I think I annoyed several people who had tried to help , who thought I I wasn't taking their suggestions on board or seriously at the time. Which I understand. Anyway, we are literally back to square 1. I hadn't had my thyroid tested or a full blood test since the beginning of last year until 30th December, 2020. There are several issues that need to be dealt with. I don't want to get into another spat but my doctors won't test FT3. I had intended paying privately to see an endocrinologist but when covid hit, and I had several other issues with both me and my husband to sort out I'm afraid it got shelved. So I am literally back to the drawing board and will see how I go.

I did have private blood tests at the beginning of last year and got feedback from Thyroid forum, but as I say it was twelve months ago now and back to the drawing board. I am struggling with stuff all the time, it is unbelievable. Changed a light bulb this morning. Went for blood test. Half a mile walk each way in the snow. Collected prescriptions from chemist. Came home telephone not working. Got lunch. Spent all afternoon trying to sort phone out and changing contact numbers to my new mobile. A lso now got to change phone account to my name as DH ill. They will send forms out for change of ownership, to be filled in, and change of direct debit. Yet another job. My head is struggling to cope.. There is a new problem every single day and DH causing arguments as he seems to think I am robbing his bank accounts. Doesn't understand any of it! I am in tears every single day. It wasn't too bad contacting the health centre this afternoon. Not as busy as usual. Only 9th in the queue.. Only on hold for 25 minutes. Can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring .Anyway now its time to get tea! Sorry to be facetious, but as I presume everyone on this site is in a similar health predicament to me can someo ne tell me how you manage to deal with all this stuff on a daily basis without cracking up.
