I had a very busy week last week which has caused me to flare. Nausea, fatigue and pain. I’ve developed a new pain in my stomach over the past few days, it’s not severe but it’s painful enough I notice it. It’s almost like a dull ache. I can’t tell if it’s coming from my stomach or my muscles because it keeps spreading about my abdomen, bottom of my back, below my ribs, centre of my tummy. It’s quite uncomfortable and doesn’t go away, it doesn’t get worse either. I can still deal with it. Anyone experience similar and if so Should I put it down to new fibro pain during this flare?

My head is a mess just now with this flare, was cooking dinner last night and put my hand inside the hot oven without a oven mitt and burnt my whole hand☹️ brain is turning to butter just now!!!
I wdn't/don't put anything new down to fibro! Or anything at all :-). So neither exercises/movement, nor different foods change it? Day and night? Doesn't sound good to me. I'd watch it and check with a physio and/or doc soonish (after 7 days).
I forget about it at points during the day. A glass of wine helps🤣 going to orthopaedist for acupuncture and cupping today which never had before so hopefully if it’s fibro that will relieve some of the pain. X
Oh dear, even 2 sips of wine would cause a lot of pain in my throat and stomach! I'd been very interested to here how acupuncture and cupping works, but I'll only tell you my exeriences afterwards. For a start I am amazed s/he seems to be doing both on one day??
Only ended up getting acupuncture alone as I was very sore after a light massage. Not too sure if I feel any different yet. She said it may take a few times to start to notice any real benefit x
Well now I can tell you: I got much too many needles, often 15-20+ and could hardly walk after, most times. Fibromites should get less than 5 I've been told by better trained docs. I've never heard of acupuncture after massage either, wd seem too much too?
Hi CopingwithExI would just like to share with you my year long abdomen, stomach, waistband, pain which always seems to start after eating or even my morning cuppa. It does move around and I have put it down to the FM pain as I had a pelvic ultrasound in September (arranged by the Neurosurgeon who was trying to find the reason for my excrutiating nerve pain in the foot). The ultrasound was clear although I hadn't told him about the abdominal pain as he seemed pretty sceptical about Fibromyalgia anyway.....as usual.
As you say it's uncomfortable and actually I get a nasty bloated feeling. If you look it up it just says spastic colon and IBS are frequently associated with FM. So I have done nothing about it at this stage as I honestly don't think it is anything sinister.......although it is pretty grim. Hope yours goes away as quickly as it came . Take care 💐😍
Yes I have had ibs since I was 12!! Always had gut issues and also suffered painful pelvic area so had an ultrasound in July too which was clear. This pain is different but it isn’t so severe I can’t move or anything. It’s more uncomfortable than anything else. Hopefully it goes away soon. Maybe it’s a stomach ulcer or something if anything. Thank you for your reply, take care 🥰 x
Sorry to hear this. I also often have constant stomach pain when I’m in a flare up.
Things that I’ve found help:
- Wear loose clothing. Avoid anything with a restrictive waist band - like skinny jeans or tights. Big and baggy is the name of the game 🙂
- Cut down on cow’s milk. I find using oat milk for a week or so calms my stomach. And oat milk tastes way better than other plant based milks IMO!
- Take some probiotics. Help your gut stay healthy. Get some good quality probiotics. You may notice some “gas” the first few days but this is bad bacteria being killed off...so persist!
- Gentle heat. A hot water bottle with a cover on often soothes my tummy enough to no longer notice the pain.
Check in with your doctor, especially if you have any bleeding from your bum. my mum was recently diagnoses with diverticular disease, symptoms sound familiar, don't put everything down to fibro.
Hi I have had similar pain a dull ache in my stomach and lower abdomen I I visited the Dr she said it was IBS linked to my fibromyalgia flare She recommended a product called Buscopan you can get it obviously from the dr but also from any chemist xxxx hope this is helpful
