Hello to all the lovely and very kind people on this wonderful forum. I hope you all are as well as can be expected, and that you are looking forward to Christmas irrespective of the depressing and strange times that we all are in.
You may recollect that I posted an enquiry regarding MR to challenge the length of an award 3 months ago. The advice I was given by all the fantastic members of this forum was truly amazing, and I did follow this good advice and sent a letter requesting a mandatory reconsideration for the length of my PIP award.
I have not heard anything from the DWP at all, since I sent the MR letter 3 months ago, and the strange thing is that, not a single text did I receive from them or even an acknowledgement letter stating that they have received the letter.
The letter was sent by special delivery which arrived the next day after I posted it, and it was signed for.
I tried to contact the DWP on 4 separate occasions, but without any joy, as their line was constantly busy. Does anyone on this forum know how long it takes to receive a reply from the DWP when an MR has been requested in writing?
I would be very grateful if anyone can shed light on this matter. Thank you to all of you, and merry Christmas to you all, and a very peaceful, healthy, happy and prosperous new year.
I sincerely hope and pray that everyones' health improve and that we all have a better 2021 with lots of abundance, prosperity, and success in all our undertakings.
Please keep well and stay safe always. Kind regards

Hi, I don't believe the DWP send out an acknowledgement letter saying they've received your MR. Also, unfortunately, sending anything written to the DWP, & getting it signed for, doesn't mean a lot, as it's just signed for at their local depot, & may take several days before it's on their computer system.
Have you tried ringing the DWP when they're first open in the morning? Opening hours are now 9am -5pm. I've heard of people waiting more than an hour to get through. Sadly, with some backlogs, a lot of things are taking longer, & you may just need to wait.
Thank you very much for replying. What you have said about the item signed for at the local depot does make absolute sense.
I'm very grateful to know that this has been the case, and will follow your advice to try contacting the DWP again, even if it takes an hour for them to pick up the phone, it is worth the effort to wait for someone to answer my call.
Hope you and your family are all keeping safe and well. I suppose we all have to do things differently this time for the Christmas festivities, in light of the pandemic, and just appreciate the fact that we are alive, and getting on with our lives.
Last year, by this time, so many of us were excited and looking forward to a great Christmas, and this time, it's an entirely different matter with Covid-19.
This just goes to show that with life, things can change anytime, so we really have got to live for the moment!
Think it’s got much to do with which desk it lands on and the speed at which that person works as well as where in the country you are. I helped a friend with their MR at it took 6 weeks. So fingers crossed you should hear soon.
3 months is long enough to wait. It is probably lost in the work queues on their systems. I would complain politely and ask them to let you know what is happening. Write to them by signed for post and put a big heading COMPLAINT on it. More info here gov.uk/government/organisat...
