Am going nuts. My hands are so itchy I could scratch them to death. It seems my itchy hands are progressively getting worse and mainly on a night time. Take piriton and just bought some antihistamine cream today because now they getting really sore. My hands first go red, then they start itching and once I start scratching I cannot stop. Then they swell mainly on my palm(left)and (right sole of foot)after that the itch turns very similar to when you been stung by nettles . The shape of rash can differ as well like half crescent moon shape also like raised blebs . It tends to happen alot more often now and especially when I get stressed also the itchy and scratchy does my head clean in. P.S. a big hello to everybody am new to the group. Its the first one av ever joined for my fibro. Has anyone got any handy hints to make life more bearable lv lots Jooles xxxx

I have something almost identical to this.... I don't know what it is, or what triggers it, but I've noticed that it usually happens a day or two before I have an arthritic flare-up - the science-guy in me says correlation isn't causation, but it's still hard to dismiss the link.
Anyhoo... I know it's hard, but the best way to make it go away, is to not scratch it... I know exactly how maddening it can be, but trust me, but scratching it makes it worse. If you just leave it alone, it will go away after an hour or so... At least in my case that works (as in all things, your mileage may vary, though).
Dabbing a bit of cold calamine lotion on the itchy parts with a ball of cotton wool, also seems to help me a lot (dab, don't rub).
Sorry, I know it's not much help, but it couldn't hurt giving it a go.
Sounds like chill blanes to me. I get itchy hands too, I Ave pets but I noticed it was after I was out in the cold
I have the same problem. I take a different antihistamine prescribed by my doctor. I truly hope you find some relief.
What do the docs say? Sounds tougher than GP-level: Dermatologist? Allergologist?
Hi Jooles1971,Its sounds very similar to what I've just seen dermatologist for, it sounds like a kind've eczema, Pompholyx I was diagnosed with, it starts on the hands, can spread to the feet too, with I unfortunately have, you may need a steroid cream, plus a prescription hand cream. Like NilsAjax said, do not scratch, yes, definitely easier said than done!!! Wear gloves when dealing with chemicals, including washing up liquids, and keep the room cool/cold, it helps with the itching, my room was like the freezer when at worse!! Speak with your drs, they can give creams to wash your hands with as anything medicated will irritate it.
I really hope this helps xx
I have this itching and raised bumps every night. Does seem to be worse since I started having the central heating on and I now try to keep my hands cooler. I am also wondering if the hand sanitiser is making it worse.
Try calamine cream and not the lotion as it soothes the inflammation or even cold water, just make sure you wear gloves when washing up or cleaning with chemicals etc if I peak potatoes or wash up my hands do this but you seem to have a really bad reaction so worth pursuing it with your dr
Hope you have a lovely Christmas
When I saw the rheumatologist he was asking me a lot about itching and rashes... I believe he was trying to rule out psoriatic arthritis. Maybe something to consider?
