Continuous headaches

For the last couple of weeks I have been suffering from continuous headaches. Common painkillers are no longer working for me and it seems the pain is becoming chronic.

I don't know if it is fibromyalgia or it is because I have had personal problems and I have very stressed and tired. Do any of you suffer from a headache that doesn't go away with medication?

Please talk to your GP as not everything is fibro related. We tend to blame fibro for all our aches and pains. I delayed seeing a GP when having calcific tendonitis as I put it down to the dreaded fibro.

Hey you. Reasons for headaches include stress, fatigue, dehydration.... sound familiar?

Getting cluster headaches at the moment which I’ve put down to change in weather. I think I’m affected by changes in air pressure.

I have Sumatriptan on prescription. I take 2 OTC painkillers and if they have no effect I take 1 x Sumatriptan 50 mg which has only failed to work once. Yesterday it started to work in 20 minutes.

Look at what you’re eating and drinking. Lots of things trigger headaches and fibro pain in me. Sugar ( especially in baked stuff) triggers fibro pain.

I can’t drink coffee, chocolate, alcohol or eat pineapple, ginger or very spicy foods. I only drink decaf tea and water.

Get checked by your GP though I find very few actually do any thorough examination of eyes, neck etc... It might be worth seeing an optician as he/she will check the backs of your eyes and pressures.

You could ask the GP about Sumatriptan.

I suggest you see your doctor. Headaches, especially long lasting ones should not be ignored. it could be something simple, like stress, or it could be a symptom of something else.

We are not qualified to diagnose, so please see or talk to your doctor as soon as possible.

Cheers, Midori

I get frequent headaches and migraines that only rizatriptan can help, ordinary painkillers do nothing.

I know exactly how you feel. Since March I've had the worst headaches ever. Finally got an MRI in August where they found trigeminal neuralgia and growth on pituitary gland with an empty sella, which means I have high pressure in my brain. Had lumbar puncture last week now waiting for consultant to phone to arrange a shunt or stent in my brain 🧠 😫

Hi Miafe, as others have said other things can cause headaches, it could be something as simple as you need glasses. You may want to have an eye test. Very often a GP will want you to have an eye test to rule that out. Please don't just put it down to fibro, get your eyes checked and then see your GP. Hope you feel better very soon, gentle hugs, Elaine x
