has anyone experienced any side effects from Duloxetine ?
I have been taking it for a few weeks now and I find it makes me very shaky in the mornings ( I have to take it at bedtime ) . I've also found I'm very restless about an hour after taking it and feel like my skin is crawling. It's a very weird feeling and makes me want to kind of wriggle about , as if I'm trying to get away from myself !
The GP says to give it a couple of months and see what happens but I'm not sure I can wait that long.
I was on it for a month and tho it worked for me i had a reaction to the drug, I came out in bruises on my legs where i had either knocked myself or scratched an itch and I also had light nose bleeds and gum bleeds. I was ok taking it apart from the relaxed mind I found i couldn't sleep at night . I phoned my Dr and told her and she said stop taking it. I then had 2 weeks of lightheadness and giddiness and feeling unbalanced and light sensitive till I was right as rain again thank god. I was told to take a decongestant twice daily for 3 days and salt water boiled for steam inhalations and this helped eventually, but talk to ur GP first if you decide to stop taking it. I know a few friends from the fibro group who have no problems with the drug so take care and good luck
Hi helen my doctor gave me them and i was only on them one day and they made me feel so strange i didnt take any more i felt reaaly weird and totally spaced out and they made me ill for a week they also made me have a bloated belly !
Do you feel that it is helping your Fibro symptoms? If so, it may be worth working out a way to deal with the side effects.
If you're shaky in the morning, maybe try eating something soon after you wake up. Even having a cracker whilst lying in bed might help. Shakiness can be caused by low blood sugar.
You may also want to discuss with your doctor about whether adding in another med might be a good option. I know a number of Fibro specialising consultants use low dose Clonazepam at bedtime alongside other meds, partly because of the beneficial effects of Clonazepam on the sleep problems and myofascial/muscular tension of Fibro, but also partly because doing this can help the patient benefit more from the main medication.
hi helen i was really ill on these to the point of hopitalization!

i knw everyone is diff bu please tk care x
Thank you. I must admit I wondered whether it was the Duloxetine or something else going on , but the symptoms mentioned here are pretty much how I feel.
If I don't go to sleep within an hour of taking it , I start to feel really strange, and if I do fall asleep I feel strange when I wake.
I have to take a tablet in the morning and wait an hour before I can eat or drink ( it cuts the amount of acid in my stomach and needs an hour to work properly ) so I can't eat when I wake up , but thanks for the suggestion.
I think I'm going to go back to the GP and see if she can suggest anything else , with all the other problems I'm having I don't want to spend the day feeling shaky and have my skin crawling.
I have been on Duloxetine for approx 6yrs now & I do remember that I had a few of the symptoms that you have metioned, but after a few weeks of persevering they soon passed.
It certainly does help me with the pain side of Fibro, it's one of those cases that you take it for granted until one day you find you have run out & not repeated your prescription quick enough. The pain when not taking he drug is really bad, so I know it's helping me.
Always make sure that if your taking this medication, that you don't run out, because apart from the pain level rising, you also feel very unsteady on your feet & suffer the most horrendous, grisly dreams.
Hi I'm on duloxetine 60mg I take two in the morning, I'm not great with any tablet at first, so I always take them at night till I get them in to my system. I now take them 2 every morning120mg and I feel they help me but I take them for depression. I had a very bad flare up of fibro just recently and they did nothing for the pain.I really think they are helping to get me through my dark times, like most of you I have tried a lot of meds and for now they seem to be the one. I also take 50mg amitriptilyne for pain at night and to help me sleep. Fluffy hugs to you all. 😖😴
