Hi everybody, I just wanted to say how good I'm finding this medication. I was put on it last November and had the dose increased in January. I feel like I can cope better with life generally. Depression and anxiety have always been one of the worse symptoms of fibro. That is now more under control. I still get other symptoms like fatigue, dizziness, brain fog but I can cope better now. I thought it is good to post a success story and let others know about this medication. I know it wont suit everybody, but maybe worth a go.

David

That’s really good I’m so pleased for you. I’ve also been on venlafaxine for a long time and I’m finding I still have quite a lot of good and bad days but mine is the sleep and pain. I just feel I’m getting worse with the fibro and finding it hard to cope with the pain. I might mention this also to my GP Thankyou Golfer15.

Venlafaxine is intended for severe drug resistant depression. Duloxetine is used as a Fibromyalgia treatment after people prescribed it for depression in the USA reported an improvement in their fibromyalgia symptoms. Full details of Duloxetine are here:

I am so pleased for you it must make such a difference to your life. Unfortunately, it didn't suit me and I had terrible side effects. I am the same with all the antidepressants I have tried. Do hope it continues working for you.x

My gp gave me fluexotine as a result of me practically begging for help with head and chest sweats. Hasn't helped with that but my fibro systems definitely improved so I've decided to keep taking it.x

I was on a brand of duloxetine but they don't do it under the medical card system any more so they have been giving me a different brand. It feels like a placebo. Moods have been all over the place and pain is much worse. I can only contribute it to this. If I want to go back to what I had been prescribed for years I will have to pay the full price. I am on 7 different medications and pay privately for all of these most of my life. Thousands spent. Now I am on invalidity and trying to keep the roof above my head every penny counts. Feel like stopping them altogether.

Do you prepay for your prescriptions once a year? I found out about it because a kind pharmacist looked at my list of drugs and told me! Worth asking next time you’re at the chemist. I’m no longer paying as over 60, so I don’t know if they’re still doing it, but ask - I saved an absolute fortune.

Hi there

I have also been on Duloxetine for some months now and found my symptoms have eased. Still in pain but not so severe and anxiety is improved. Even managed to have a short break away with OH which would have been impossible a year ago ☺

I was prescribed it by a neurologist who is treating me for chronic migraines, it is supposed to help with them too.

Only downside has been weight gain.
